I'm interested to hear what everyone else thinks of this. With streaming becomingly increasingly popular, many people are choosing to watch new releases at home, rather than going out and watching it at the cinemas. Just out of curiosity, do you prefer watching movies at the cinemas or at home? Personally, I prefer to go to the cinemas to watch a new movie. While it is more convenient just to watch a movie at home, I still think it's better to watch a movie on the big screen.

At home with friends, with them making commentary throughout it. I can't stand theatres personally. I don't know how people sit down for 3 hours without moving and with little mental stimulation. It's probably why movies is the medium I'm least vested in.

It's probably why movies is the medium I'm least vested in. That's fair enough. Even though I voted for Cinemas, it's not by much of a margin. To be honest, when I go to the cinemas, I often find myself losing interest in the movie and wishing for it to be over. A lot of the time I daydream and lose track of what's going on.

I think watching a movie at the cinema is typically more exciting than at home, but there are certain benefits to seeing a film in the comfort of your room. First, you can pause if you need a restroom break, second, you can rewind if you missed something important, and third, it's usually more flexible.

Depends on the movie. I'm a huge animation fan, so I always try to support it by watching it in the theater. I also watch all Marvel movies as soon as they come out too.
But everything else, I usually wait to rent them, or watch them in Netflix.

Home is more convenient, cheaper, and you can cover up with a warm blanket and get comfortable! Not to mention pause the movie for bathroom trips. Theaters are fun because you can make an outing of it plus they've got surround sound and some movies are worth seeing on a large screen like that. So it depends what you're in the mood for.

Cinema perks: has the type of food that's never at my house, recliner seats, gigantic screen, pitch black room, insane surround sound, and I love being immersed in the movie. I get so distracted when watching movies at home.

There's a cozy convenience to watching movies at home, especially when you're lying in bed and have the luxury of pausing or rewinding. However, if I'm feeling a bit outgoing or energetic, then visiting the cinema is usually a ton of fun and more exciting than simply staying at home. The downside is that I have to be very careful not to drink too much right before the movie, or else I'll be forced to take a restroom break in the middle of the picture and miss a couple minutes of potentially important stuff.

Generally, cinemas provide a better experience for horror movies. Mostly, I watch movies at home on Netflix.

For me, it depends on the movie. If its a comedy or something, then I see no point in going to the theater. But something filled with action like The Avengers is awesome to watch in theaters because of the larger screen and surround sound.

Both. I agree with what everyone said about watching films at home. However, the best thing about the theater is that you get to see the new movie before everyone else does!

Last went to the cinema maybe ten years back, remember who I went with but not what the film was although it was pretty good. I prefer to watch a movie at home although I've the attention span of a goldfish. Dances With Wolves for example can just do one, four hours indeed. A movie would have to be snappy for me to stay focused, however, Paris Texas, a road movie is one of my favourites and that one does take ages to get going.
