I'm surprised that it hasn't already happened. Maybe people have forgot about it?

This is probably just only wishful thinking, but I predict these constant shootings that we have will hopefully go down in the 2020's. I'm really sick of hearing about another school shooting on the news and feeling bad about the families and friends who lost a loved one

The US has had 22 school shootings this year and we're not even in the second-half of 2018.

I mean I feel like if Trump gets re-elected in 2020 then it will probably just stay the same for the majority of the 2020's, but I really do hope that at least by 2029 there won't be so many shootings anymore, or at least not as much as there is now.

*As sad as it sounds, I think Kanye West will become a Presidential candidate for the 2020 election. Remembering the comments Kanye made several years earlier, people will begin a trend on social media in Mid-Late 2019 calling for Kanye to become a candidate. I believe a backlash against Donald Trump will only further encourage the general public to support Kanye West and as a result of this, he will have a fair amount of momentum. Ultimately, however, he will not become the President of the United States. Just re-reading this post, i'm honestly surprised that this prediction hasn't come to fruition. Do people simply have short memories or has Kanye West himself come out and said that he won't be running for the top job? I just can't believe that it hasn't become a trend on social media in any way.

To be honest, I actually think Karl Stefanovic will leave Today much sooner than 2022. His recent antics have undeniably tarnished the Today brand and I could only imagine that the Nine executives wouldn't be too pleased with him at the moment. Well, this is one prediction that I got right. Karl Stefanovic was sacked just eight months after I had made that post.

I still really hope this one comes true, but I'm not holding my breath (especially with this year's ratings resurgence for The Voice): *By 2021, The Block, The Voice and MasterChef will not be on the air. But on this old media prediction from another thread: Geoff Philips (WIN News newsreader) will retire sometime in the Early 2020s, possibly around 2020/2021. Unfortunately with the way WIN News has been going recently (with the axing of four bulletins next week which will leave just TWO in NSW & the ACT), I suspect that Geoff Phillips' media career may end due because of WIN News shutting down entirely! Needless to say that I personally hope that does not happen and that in particular, the Illawarra edition of WIN News won't end with the retirement of Geoff Phillips (or sooner)

But on this old media prediction from another thread: Yep, I think very few people would have predicted that The Voice would be one of the highest rating reality-TV shows in 2019. It's almost certain that it will be returning to our screens next year, and quite honestly, 2021 probably isn't out of the question now either.

But I mean nobody expected Trump to be president so anything can happen :D

An updated version of 1980’s interior design will be in vogue.
Laugh at me now but this is based on research.

This is the sound of 2020s, or I will not desire to live in this same dimension anymore!
Call me out, people of 2025, for dreaming foolish, but as someone from 2019, when the 2020s aren't a thing yet, I have the power of headcanonig them!

A few more predictions:
* Donald Trump will win the 2020 US Election. * A new sub-genre in hip-hop will overtake Trap in popularity sometime in 2021. It will stylistically be "darker" and gritty, with lyrics that focus on alienation and self-hate. Basically, it will be the hip-hop equivalent of alternative-rock. * The last global Trap hit will be released in Late 2020. After that, Trap will begin to fall out of favour and become less successful on the Top-40 charts. * Trap artists will start to become irrelevant once the new sub-genre of hip-hop becomes mainstream. * Thor: Love and Thunder will be the highest grossing film at the box office in 2021. * Spongebob Squarepants will still be in production five years from now, as will The Simpsons.

I think it's possible we could see more government control over the entertainment industry if Trump wins the 2020 election. A lot of people want laws to force the return 1950s-type entertainment (think I Love Lucy, Leave it to Beaver) as well as crack down much harder on explicit content. I think we could see a law forbidding the portrayal of non-traditional, non-heterosexual families and relationships on TV or in movies. I think there's a good chance that could be where we are headed. I think state-controlled media is also in our future. The US will probably absorb Fox News and then crack down on the other 24-hour news networks.
I also think the US could split when the economic collapse hits, which will probably be within the next 3-5 years. This one is going to be nasty. The northern states will either join Canada or become a new social democracy and the South will be a balkanized collection of theocratic states, likely 'A Handmaid's Tale' level oppression.
