I saw a TV commercial for Macca's earlier today and it made me think about how McDonalds advertising has changed over the years. When you think about, you never even hear of Ronald McDonald, the Hamburgular or any of the other McDonaldLand characters anymore. Just out of curiosity, when was McDonaldLand phased out in your local area? If i'm not mistaken, McDonaldLand was phased out in my local area around 2004. I remember the Dapto McDonalds still had the hamburgular and a few of the other characters on the kids play equipment for a few years after that, but they were no longer in regular use. Ronald McDonald still appeared in television commercials until about 2009/2010.

I think 2004 or 2005. They stopped because many people considered it unethical to advertise McDonald's to children in that manner.

However, it is a shame that the characters are no longer used in advertising, considering how iconic they were.

I don't remember seeing any of them since some time in the 2000's, not at local chains. They still had the indoor playgrounds though.

We had one in the 90s and 2000s at burger king but they were outside. Mom never let us play in them because she said there were snakes in it lol.

I can't even remember the last time I saw a Happy Meal ad on TV, to be honest! In more recent times, McDonalds only seem to focus on their "Deluxe" burger range and McCafe in their commercials.
