I thought this might be an interesting idea for a thread. What is your current occupation? I'm a school leaver and looking to enter the workforce.

My only job right now is school. I do have people who ask me if I'm going to get a job at 16, but I'm not really in a rush at the moment. I'd rather wait until maybe senior year.

I don't think it's worth getting a job during high school, to be honest. A lot of kids in my year group got jobs during our senior year, but as a result, they had less time to study for exams.

I don't really think so either because it adds more work to what you already have to do. Freshmen aren't old enough to get a job. Most sophomores are but I prefer to enjoy my high school years without having to worry about a job at such an early age. Junior year, at least from what I've heard, is the most important grade level and you get more homework and stuff. Senior year is like you only take a few classes and then you can leave for the rest of the day. That's why I'd prefer to wait until at least my senior year.

Data engineer/scientist. Build and manage databases and data collection infrastructure and analyze data. Cambridge Analytica basically tbh but not that invasive

^^^ I had a job in high school and I thought it was worth it. Good work experience and more importantly I had money for my hobbies (gaming, language learning)! But I was a straight A student and almost always finished my work at school (me and my friends would do our homework during lunch break lol) so I had time for a job. Also, I had a deal with my parents that they would pay for half my expenses as long as I had an A average. So a $60 vidéo game would be $30 for me as long as I did well in school. That definitely kept me motivated.

Since it has been over a year since the last post was made, I thought it would be worth reviving. My vote has changed from "Not Employed" to "Other". I have been working for Transport for NSW as a school crossing supervisor since May last year.
