Practice will make perfect there When did you move to the south? I think if you're an adult/teen it's going to be difficult to lose your accent. I moved in late 2007 at age 11. I never had a thick accent growing up but I do tend to pick up regional slang from both states I lived in. I think part of the reason why I never'd developed a country sounding accent is due to me being indoors most of my youth. I been around some of the most strongest southern speakers but yet I still sound pretty northern. Yeah, 11-13 sounds borderline on whether you lose your accent or not (going by the immigrants from my middle/high school). I guess you kept by avoiding speaking with southerners Are you happy your accent is mostly northern or would you prefer if it were more southern?

I am, since I don't have to worry about sounding too overbearing in a professional setting.

Do you see more South Asians in NYC or Toronto? South Asaians seems to be represented well in the media in Toronto whereas in NY you really don't see South Asaians portrayed in the media that much but you'll see lots of them in Queens.

"It's basically a crap gay porn website hailing itself to be an entertainment forum." Looking at the Gallery and all the pictures with captions like "I'm not naked." and "Anyone for a hosing?", I'm not surprised he thinks that. And you screenshotted them all. MESS What do you mean?

South Asians make up 15% of Toronto. I don't think they make up a large percentage of New York. Asians (which includes Chinese, Korean etc.) only make up 10% of New York. I don't know about Queens specifically.

Your not going to find them so much in the other boros of New York but Chinesse and Koreans are all over NYC. I see a lot well-known south Asaian people online that live in the Toronto area like famous poets, actors and even a well-known comedian Russel Peters.

Canada and South Asia are both part of the Commonwealth so there used to be a lot of agreements between the two that made it easier to move/work here. That's why there are a lot more here.
Russel Peters is really famous here. I went to one of his shows; the tickets were crazy expensive! In general we have a lot of Asian celebrities. Asians are 40% of Toronto and Vancouver's populations and 15% of Canada's population overall (equivalent to black Americans in the US), so it makes sense that there would be.

Speaking of Black people I see Carbbieans are also well represented in Toronto. I heard Reggae music is huge in Toronto. I bet I can get some good Jerk Chicken up there. I love Caribbean food.

That's true as well. Many Caribbean countries are also part of the Commonwealth. Toronto is about 10% black, mostly immigrants from the Caribbean or Africa. I believe Montreal has a lot of black people too (Vancouver less so).
Toronto slang/dialect borrows a lot from Jamaican patois, which surprisingly makes it similar to London (England) slang. The rap scenes of both cities are linked too from what I've heard. A lot of people accuse Drake of faking patois, but a lot of people here genuinely talk like that, including non-black people. Our white redneck ex-mayor was infamously caught on video many times making drunken rants in patois
And yes, we have Caribbean and jerk chicken restaurants on almost every street corner. I love it too!

Nice, here in North Carolina we don't have much of a Caribbean presence so it's cool that Canada has a taste of some good jerk chicken. Now you really make me wanna go to Toronto. Do you see Toronto becoming more world-class like in the same vain as New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, etc since you have the biggest rapper in the world, lots of diversity, and plenty of celebrities who reign from the area.

You should really visit some time! Although, since you're from New York, you might not find much new here and it can feel really small.
We have a recipe for a good city but our population is too small to be in the same class as those. Tokyo alone (35 million) until recently had a bigger population than all of Canada (currently 37 million), let alone Toronto (7 million). It is more comparable to mid-tier cities like Chicago or Berlin.

Ok, the reason I asked that because the world is paying more attention to Canada with all the backlash the US has gotten in recent years with our politics. Toronto is becoming more and more famous just seeing how many big YouTubers are from there and how many music artists are from there. I still will more than likely enjoy Toronto. The other cities in Canada seem nice as well: I know you mentioned how you loved visiting Montreal, Vancover seems pretty legit, I heard Winnipeg is ok, Calegery seems to be most stereotypically Candian and Saksatoon has a large Native Frist Nation population.

I am completely ignorant to our apparent growing reputation as a cool city. Our unofficial motto has always been "Not a nice place to visit, but a nice place to live". Which YouTubers do you have in mind btw? I know some local YouTubers but I can't think of any that have international fame (except Jordan Peterson ) I know for music artists we've been punching above our weight this decade with the Weeknd, Drake, Alessia Cara, Shawn Mendes, and I'm probably forgetting a few others. You know your Canadian cities eh. I'm impressed that you know Winnipeg and that it's just "ok"

What's wrong with Winnipeg? Is it like Nowra (i.e one of the worst places imaginable)?

What's wrong with Winnipeg? Is it like Nowra (i.e one of the worst places imaginable)? No, it's just cold (it got down to -55°C this winter) and doesn't have much going for it. Its nickname is Winterpeg. I heard it has a great arts scene and a lot of cultural amenities, but I don't know much about that.
