Honestly now that I think about it, I think the 50s might be cheesier than the 60s. While the 60s did have some goofy songs and the occasional “Sugar, Sugar”, the decade isn’t known for cheesiness, at least when it comes to music. The 50s wasn’t too cheesy either, but what it makes up for that the 70s and later have in terms of party songs, the 50s makes up for in sappy love songs. This would make the 60s the least cheesy decade, and the 50s the 2nd least cheesy.

I take it back, the 1970s are easily the cheesiest decade of all time. The pop charts were just constant ditties over ditties. It's both a good and a bad thing

This would make the 60s the least cheesy decade, and the 50s the 2nd least cheesy. I definitely think the 60s had its fair share of cheesy songs, especially early on with the doo-wop era. It was the time of "Monster Mash", "Surfin' Bird" and "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini" after all. I honestly consider the 60s in general a cheesier decade for music than the 50s is because of how pop music was so much brighter and energetic than the dreary traditional pop that dominated the 50s pop charts. Don't get me wrong, the 50s charts were also prone to have really dumb novelty songs like "The Witch Doctor" and "Beep Beep", but they were pretty marginal and forgettable compared to those of the 60s. And don't get me started on the cheesy movies from back then! The Batman movie is still considered a monument of cheese nowadays.

1. 1980s 2. 1950s 3. 1970s 4. 1960s 5. 1990s 6. 2000s I think it's too early to rank the 2010s... Were the 2010s really that cheesy? How so? a lot 2010s pop music was cheesy. Think of Party Rock Anthem, Call Me Maybe, Thrift Shop, Gangnam Style, Happy, etc. lol
