This would be my top 6, in order:
6. Pretty Ricky - It could partially be my hatred for the group's music itself, but whatever the case, this name still makes me cringe.
5. Kajagoogoo - Gibberish. Total gibberish. I thought this was an '80s synthpop group, not a 3-year-old's imaginary friend.
4. Saliva - This is undoubtedly one of the most forcefully cringeworthy rock bands ever, right down to their name. Yeah, the white stuff in my mouth is just what I want to think about whenever this band's loud, cheesy music starts blasting.
3. Papa Roach - This is just dumb no matter how you look at it. Their major label debut suggests the roach to be literal, but even if this is supposed to be slang for marijuana, it just sounds ludicrous, regardless.
2. Butthole Surfers - A grossly worded euphemism for anal sex that honestly sounds worse than its literal meaning. At least the band's music is just as ugly as their name.
1. Queens of the Stone Age - This is supposedly one of the most artistically accomplished bands of the 21st Century, but I haven't felt even a drop of interest in them simply because of how much their name turns me off. It's a terrific cluster of awkward imagery that feels especially inappropriate for a group intended to be taken full-on seriously.

1. Deadstar - The name "Deadstar" sounds like something you would expect from a heavy metal band, not a one-hit wonder pop-rock group who enjoyed mainstream commercial success in Early 2000. I think it's a real shame that they chose a name as off-putting as that, because I don't doubt that the name would have turned some people off from listening to their music. 2. The Mamas & The Papas - I've always considered this band's name to be incredibly off-putting, to be honest. It creates the impression that i'm listening to a group comprised of elderly members and all it does is detract from the overall quality of their music output. 3. Presidents of the United States of America - Surely Presidents of the United States would have sufficed? "Presidents of the United States of America" is such a mouthful. 4. Ween - Considering how absolutely vile their only mainstream hit is, i'm not really surprised that the group have a name which is just as off-putting as their music. It's interesting to read your opinion of Queens of the Stone Age. I personally don't think the bands name is too off-putting, although I can see why it may be perceived as such. It doesn't really make much sense.

Hoobastank. Stupid name that means what exactly? Gym Class Heroes. The song that goes, "Take a look at my girlfriend" is about what you can expect from a band with that name. Alabama Thunder Pussy. Metal band showing just how much class they've got with a name like that. Fabolous. A mispronounced word as a name. Really? Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Kind of gross if you ask me.

I don't know where the name Pretty Ricky came from, but I liked their songs back in '04 when I heard them on the radio. Nostalgia I guess. I also like Saliva's music. Maybe they're nothing revolutionary in terms of rock bands, but their name and style falls in the same category as similar bands that emerged around the same time such as Stained, Soil, and Seether. The 4 S's! I mean, yes it's radio friendly play-it-safe rock songs, but they're not Nickleback level generic! Papa Roach has changed since their debut and don't have that angsty sound that appealed to so many teens back then. The Butthole Surfers were one hit wonders as far as I know. Never liked Queens of the Stone age, but to me their name is kind of creative.

My brother was in a band in the early 90s called Booty Time, they later changed their name to Frenzy and are still going strong around Adelaide. He left the band about 3-4 years ago though due to family commitments. frenzytheband.com.au/My brother is the guitarist to the right of George the singer
