I'm not sure how many people here like punk/pop-punk, but I thought I would create a thread based on discussing the two genres anyway. What are your favourite punk/pop-punk songs and how would you compare your interest in the genre with other genres of music? Generally speaking, I don't like pop-punk as much as alternative-rock/grunge, namely because I could never get into the Emo scene and i'm also not particularly fond of a lot of pop-punk songs from the Y2K-Era. I liked Greenday and The Offspring. To me they're the bands that started the phenomenon. They sung about social issues and not just whiny breakup songs and teen angst subjects.

It's partly the reason why I've never been able to take an interest in Blink-182. I don't mind "Dammit", but I generally find the rest of their songs to be too whiny and simplistic for my liking.
