Here's my ranking of every 2010's year, besides 2019 because we're not their yet. In regards to 2019, I'll probably do another 2010's year ranking around the end of 2019, when a lot of people on here and inthe00s will be waving goodbye to this decade. This is by the perspective of someone who was 8 in 2010 started and turning 17 in January, it's my perspective and personal experience with the years, so this
isn't meant to be unbiased.
1st. 2010:
I was 8, I had my Nintendo DSi from Christmas 2009, and a Wii. I was in the peak of my childhood at this point. I was transferred out of a school where I was beaten by bullies (of course I was bullied in school haha) during recess, which was great. My new school was good as well, I made a couple friends and didn't get bullied as much.
2010 games I received were Super Mario Galaxy 2, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Epic Mickey, Wii Party, Xenoblade Chronicles (didn't get that 2012), Sonic Colors, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Just Dance 2, Mario Sports Mix, Super Scriblenauts, Mario vs Donkey Kong: Minyland Mayhem, Sonic Classic Collection, Toy Story 3 (both DS and Wii versions) and others. 2010 movies I saw were Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Despicable Me, Diary of I Wimpy Kid, Tangled, How to Train Your Dragon, The Karate Kid, Megamind, Yogi Bear,
I remember wanting to get the Scott Pilgrim game, but I didn't have a PS3 or Xbox 360. I remember hearing songs on the radio such as OMG, Baby, Billionaire, Moves Like Jagger, Teenage Dream, and others. I also just realized I'm older than Justin Bieber was when he released Baby.
2nd. 2011:
I was 9, my Nintendo Wii and DSi broke this year, though I did get another Wii for Christmas. It was still the peak of my childhood, because I was still 9 and in single digits. This year and 2010 were very similar in terms of my personal life.
I remember being in awe of the 3DS release. 2011 games I received were Zelda: Skyward Sword, Super Mario 3D Land (which I didn't get til 2014), Mario & Sonic at the London Olympic Games, The Last Story (didn't get that til 2012), Just Dance 3, and I'm pretty sure there are others, but the list I'm looking though doesn't have anymore that I owned, and some of those 2010 games I got in 2011.
2011 movies I watched were Rio, Tintin, The Muppets, Rango, Gnomeo & Juliet, Alvin: Chipwrecked, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules.
Songs I listened to during car rides were Party Rock Anthem, Sexy and I Know It, Somebody That I Used to Know, Ni**as In Paris, and others.
3rd. 2018:
I'm 16 now. This year, while it hasn't been the very best, I'm glad that I'm living in it and it's certainly better than my previous teen years. I just finished up my sophomore year and I'm going into my junior year!!! School from January to May wasn't the best, as I was being really asocial during 10th grade, but I'll try to make the most out of 11th grade. I joined PerC, InThe00s, and Popedia last year, but this year is really when I got into it and I've had some good times in the Popedia Group Chat on Discord and
mwalker96 's live streams!
The only game I have from this year is Kirby Star Allies, but Super Smash Bros Ultimate looks good!!! Not a fan of mainstream music now, as I don't bother looking at the Billboard charts (though maybe I should), but songs like Rockstar and Gucci Gang are totally crap and I have no interest in whatever the hell is being played during my car rides to school. Though, the "And Justice For None" album by Five Finger Death Punch is pretty good.
4th. 2015:
I was 13. This year wasn't even close to being the best for me, I was just becoming a teenager and teen angst. The second half of 7th grade wasn't very good, because I was a weird, cringey kid and the rest is history. The first half of 8th grade was definitely better. Me and my friend Hayden were good pals and we were always cracking jokes. The funniest fights happened in 8th grade, and we had some good memories. I only socialized with a couple people, though I wish I could have extended my circle a bit. So many great times. The 2015-2016 school year was great.
2015 games that I had (and most I still have, hell some I didn't get til 2016 or early 2017) were Super Mario Maker, Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicle X, Yoshi's Wooly World, Mario Party 10, Pokken Tournament, Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, Zelda: Triforce Heroes, Megaman Legacy Collection, and others.
2015 songs I heard on the radio were Classic Man, Renegades, Hello, What Do You Mean, Hotline Bling, and others. In terms of mainstream music, 2015 is better than todays.
5th. 2016:
I was 14. My second half of 8th grade was a lot like the first half in late 2015. 2016 is when I started high school, and boy was it awkward. 9th grade wasn't the best, I didn't make any friends, I was super cringey and weird, got made fun of a bit (not too much), and I'll just leave it at that. On November 9th, 2016, the first thing I heard when getting to school was "DONALD TRUMP IS OUR PRESIDENT, WE'RE GONNA DIE!!"
I actually remember viewing Personality Cafe Generations threads that year on numerous occasions, BUT I DIDN'T JOIN, WHAT THE F***, WHY DID I LET THAT PASS ME BY!?!?
The Wii U was dying this year, with Star Fox Zero being the last game worth getting, leaving Nintendo at an 11 month drought. 2016 games I had were Star Fox Zero, Star Fox Guard, and I think that was it. My brother got some 2016 3DS games that year, like Pokemon Sun, Dragon Ball Fusion, and Kirby Robo Planet, but I didn't really play those.
6th. 2013:
I was 11. I was really into making YouTube videos at the time, on my now deleted YouTube account "TimmyTube12341234". YouTube, for the first 5 months of that year, still had the cosmic panda channel layout, which I miss so much. Entering middle school, the first semester of 6th grade was okay, I got decent grades, though shit hit the fan once 2014 and my 12th birthday came around.
I got a 3DS for my 11th birthday, and the first game I got was New Super Mario Bros 2. 2013 games I got were Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Super Mario 3D World, and Mario Party: Island Tour. I was still playing the Nintendo Wii as well. I remember there being talk about the Xbox One and PS4 during 5th and 6th grade. In 6th grade, someone said the Wii U sucks and the Xbox One was better, and I legit almost started a fight with him.
Songs I heard on the radio were Get Lucky, Blurred Lines, Roar, Wake Me Up, Scream & Shout, Thrift Shop, and others. I gotta admit, there were some catchy tunes!
Movies I saw were Frozen (it was everywhere(rofl) ), Monsters University, The Croods, and Epic. I even saw my first scary movie, Insidious: Chapter 2.
7th. 2017
I was 15. It was the most mediocre year of my life that I barely remember it already, which is why it's not higher on the list. The second half of 9th grade wasn't the best either, I started 10th grade and that was better. Basically, I didn't make any friends and did nothing.
I made Personality Cafe and inthe00s accounts in the latter half of the year, I went by the pseudonym WiiFan and later changed to GenZer02. When I joined inthe00s in October, there weren't too many 2000's babies, besides Temaichi and some who came from Personality Cafe like me, @longaotion00, rainbow , unicornic , prodanny288 , and others. I don't think Wobo and That2004Kid joined until December, though I could be wrong about that. New Years 2017-2018 was pretty fun. I even made a troll thread "2018 vs 2019" on inthe00s.
I got a Nintendo Switch! I remember watching videos about it on March 3rd, 2017 when it launched. My brother also got Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Wii U in the mail that day. 2017 games I got are Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario + Rabbits, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fortnite, Sonic Mania, and Night In The Woods.
8th. 2012
I was 10. In Late 2011, my mom and dad were separated. It changed my whole life. It was nasty divorce, which is why this year is low on the last, and I'll leave it at that. In March 2012, I created Facebook and YouTube accounts. I was kicked off Facebook a couple months later for cussing on their. My YouTube videos were cringeyworthy, and some of them were made on GoAnimate.
In terms of gaming, I used to birthday money to be a used copy of Bully for PS2, and I gotta say, it's a fun game that I was playing a lot. The Wii had busted its load off for Christmas 2011, with not a lot of games worth getting in 2012. 2012 games a got were Nintendo Land (not until 2014), Just Dance 4, Kirby's Dream Collection. New Super Mario Bros 2, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Bravely Default, Fire Emblem Awakening, and Adventure Time: Ice King Fan Why'd You Steal Are Garbage.
Songs in 2012 I heard on the radio are Call Me Maybe, Gangnum Style, We Are Never Getting Back Together, Whistle, Payphone, I Will Wait, and others.
2012 Movies I've watched are Brave, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, ParaNorman, Rise of the Guardians, The Lorax, Hotel Transylvania, and Timothy Green.
9th. 2014
I was 12 and this was the worst year of my adolescent lifetime, which is why it's at the bottom. I started sitting in my room all day and starting puberty was crazy. My family was concerned that I stayed in my room all I day and did nothing, but I was becoming a teenager really. The second semester of 6th grade was worse, I tried being edgy by saying racist jokes to classmates, but that didn't go over too well. I got in trouble a lot and got phone calls home. I was super weird and got bullied for being so. Once 7th grade started, I was better and more mature at that point, and things started to calm down. In 7th grade, I was still a bitweird and cringey, but I mostly kept to myself. When we were being showed a 9/11 documentary in class, I started cracking up.
My 3DS broke during the summer and I got a Wii U for Christmas. 2014 games I've played (most of these I got in 2015 or 2016) are Smash 4, Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Shantae, and Freedom Planet.
2014 songs I heard on the radio were Fancy, All About That Bass, Bang Bang, Happy, Chandelier, and others.
In conclusion, with all the growing pains, teen angst, horribly timed divorced, and school bullies aside, I enjoyed my time in the 2010's so far and I'm looking forward to the last 18 months of it. I'm glad I experienced this all and it'll be a story I'll pass on to future generations.
