I was just thinking back to the Late 2000s/Early 2010s and I don't know why, but I was reminded of Fred, a YouTuber who was popular at the time. Does anyone here remember Fred? Whatever happened to him and when did he become unpopular? It's strange, because I remember he was fairly popular between 2009-2011 and if my memory serves me correctly, there was even a movie adaption based on his YouTube series. Then, all of a sudden, he seemingly became an afterthought and disappeared from the spotlight.

Well, after 2009-2011, he was picked up by Nickelodeon... The result was what many people consider the absolute worst series in Nickelodeon history. I don't think too many people honestly miss him.

That's right, I forgot about that TV show. I've never actually watched it (I had stopped watching Nickelodeon a few years prior to it premiering on the network), but I can remember when the show was first announced and the criticism that it received shortly after. Anyway, I thought I would create a thread based on him and his YouTube series, because I remember he was quite popular at the time and I wasn't entirely sure when he suddenly became irrelevant. I never watched his YouTube series.

I remember Fred from the old YouTube. I used to watch him sometimes back in 2009 and 2010. I haven't heard of him for a while until now.

Kids back then just grew out of him, realizing his whole shtick is getting old, unfunny and uncool. Just like kids now will grow out of Jake/Logan Paul one day.

Well, after 2009-2011, he was picked up by Nickelodeon... Nickelodeon were probably aware of Fred during that 2009-2011 era, because it was sometime around then that he made a guest appearance on an episode of iCarly: a distinctively Late 2000s/Early 2010s style program based on teenagers producing a live web show...or something like that. Although personally, I agree that not too many people miss Fred although a few millennials might.

It's possible that Nickelodeon were aware of Fred even before that time period, because his YouTube series already had a sizable following as early as 2008. His earliest videos have between 5-20 million views. The executives at Nickelodeon most likely would have closely monitored his YouTube series for quite some time, before deciding to approach him for a television series.

Before Jacob Sartorius, there was this guy. I wonder what Fred must think of his YouTube series now? He probably thinks they're really cringeworthy.
