With the exception of "Dani California" and "Chasing Cars", all of the songs I listed for 2006 were released by Australian artists. I personally think the American music scene was really dire at the time and honestly, there's very few American songs from 2006 that I actually like. I actually found it incredibly difficult to think of songs from 2009, to be honest!

I really should get around to listening to more UK songs from the Mid 2000s. I'm aware of a fair few of the songs you listed, such as "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'", "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" and "Tripping", but there are plenty of others which I either can't recall or have never actually listened to. In terms of overall music quality, the Mid 2000s were definitely a better era for the UK and Oceania.

Here's my new list, which is quite different because I'm no longer ashamed to include eurobeat songs if necessary. Frankly, this helped tremendously to fill in the slots for the late 2000s, a period with mostly mediocre music but during which eurobeat was finer and fresher than ever. I'm not exaggerating when I say probably 98% of what I listened to in 2007-2009 was eurobeat.

I love it, it's made up of so many samples thrown together (being very interested in that technique lately) and the result is endearingly bizarre.

I agree, although I do genuinely like all of the songs that I included for 2008, lol, especially "Where The City Meets The Sea". I've loved that song since it was released.

It's a shame that the same can't really be said about 2009 though. I really like the first three songs that I listed for that year, but the others I could either take it or leave it. 2009 was one of the weakest '00s years for music overall, IMO.
