I'm currently working on a project where i'm compiling all of the #1 singles in Australia (since 1950) and making a video out of them. I finished the early '50s singles today and this was one of the songs I heard for the first time.
I'm generally not a fan of '50s music, but "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" is truly awful even for 1950s standards. Jimmy Boyd's vocals are like nails down a chalkboard and his singing style is dreadful. Incredibly, this topped the charts in both the United States and Australia back in late 1952.

With all the MAGA country nutheads getting #1s lately, 2023 is in strong contender for the worst year in Billboard's history for #1 hits.
