Probably the moment that will certainly hurt my brain is when we will be in 2022 (only 4 years time from now) and that the year 2010 at that moment will be closer to the 90s than to present day.

It's incredible to think that 2022 is really not that far off, even though it still sounds so distant.

That's incredible to think about. I actually came to the realisation yesterday that we are only 11 years away from 2030 and the year 2040 is the same distance away from the present time as what 1998 is!  It's scary how fast time goes. It's strange seeing people who I can remember from when I was a kid now having grey hairs and approaching retirement age. I remember when my parents were both in their 30s, and now they are in their Early-Mid 50s. I know it's just the natural progression of time, but life seems to be going by in a flash and that's a scary realisation.

If you consider 2023 the mid-2020s, we're now officially closer to the beginning of the mid-2020s than the vast majority of the mid-2010s . your maths ain't gonna stand up to closer scrutiny  The midpoint of the 2010s is the beginning of 2015, and the midpoint of the 2020s is the beginning of 2025. So, a quick finger calculation tells me that December 2018 is closer to 2015

I never said the midpoints of the decades Calculating it now my thought process is still a bit off, since November 2014 still leaves the mid-2010s the upperhand with one month, but it's a cool little trivia regardless.

We're closer to 2037 (late 2030s) than we are to 1998.
We are also closer to 2030 than 2005.
We are closer to 2033 (numerically mid-2030s) than 2002.
2010 is closer to 2003 than it is to 2018.
2003 is closer to 1989 than 2018.
Other things that make me feel old:
2013 babies (arguably the first mid-10s babies) are in elementary school (most of them).
2015 babies (born in the 2nd half of the 2010s) are in preschool (most)
2007 babies (a year I clearly remember) are in middle school (most).
2010 babies are halfway through elementary school and are 8 years old.
And the biggest one of all....
We are closer to 2040 than we are to 1995, as well as most of the mid-1990s.
