Same thing as McDonald's (mostly a burger joint). But it's a lot greasier and saltier I don’t think we even have a Wendy’s locally anymore, well at least I haven’t seen any (ours was an ice cream store not a burger one though ). For some reason, the international Wendy's franchise doesn't have any stores in Australia, despite the fact that it is the 3rd largest hamburger food chain in the world. Ah well, at least our Wendy's stores make good milkshakes. According to their website, there is one located in Kings Meadows. It's the only store left in Tasmania! It would be a shame if the company (which controls the chains) went bust. I enjoy going to my closest Red Rooster store and buying a Rooster Roll.

Has anyone else tried Red Rooster's new "Parmi Burger"? I decided to buy one for the first time while I was down in Albury a couple of weeks ago and I love it.

I thought it might have been a big, saucy mess. Thankfully, it's the exact opposite of that and I actually think that it's the best burger currently on the menu at Red Rooster.

Ironically enough, I decided to have a "Parmi Burger" for lunch while I was in Lithgow yesterday and it was actually really ordinary. The chicken and cheese slipped out of the buns as soon as I picked up the burger. Looks like I jinxed myself.

Give it another 3-4 years and I think the Sizzler name will be a thing of the past with all the remaining 9 closed I reckon. Yep, I agree. A few years from now and Sizzler will probably be nothing but an Australian retail memory just like Civic Video, Video Ezy, Grace Bros, Safeway, Greater Union, Bi-Lo, Franklins, ABC Shops, Toys R Us, etc. The Sydney metropolitan area's only remaining Sizzler is in Campbelltown (nearby St Andrews also has/had the honour of having one of Sydney's last dine-in Pizza Hut restaurants), after the Carramar and St George outlets closed down in 2015 and 2017 respectively.

I wonder how busy the Campbelltown one is? Seeing as it’s still open, I’m guessing it’s still fairly busy most days. Seeing as Queensland is about 20 years behind the times, they will most probably have one of the last trading. Although, WA wouldn’t be too far off!

I went to the Campbelltown store (though I didn't order anything) around lunch time 3-4 years ago and I remember it was packed; there were hardly any spare tables. A store like Sizzlers would generally perform better in an urban sprawl area such as Campbelltown. It's not the type of store that would do well in inner-city areas.
I've never actually had anything from Sizzlers before. There used to be a store at Warilla here in the Illawarra, however it closed around 2004 (I think).

I wonder how busy the Campbelltown one is? Not sure, although perhaps Popedia's Macarthur region correspondent mediaexpert might know! The Mermaid Beach Sizzler on the Gold Coast (Which might even be the same one I've got a vague memory of dining at before ending my first and only Gold Coast trip in January 2006?) will probably be the one of the last to close?

The Hobart one closed down in the late 90s (98 or 99 perhaps) and would have been one of the first few shut. Not really sure what happened to it now (I was only about 7 at the time of course), but the place was always really busy with huge queues out the front door whenever we were there. Interestingly enough, the local dine in Pizza Hut also closed not long after this and that was also incredibly busy too.

Is there a particular reason as to why Sizzlers are gradually closing down around the country? Is it just due to a lack of sales or has the company itself fallen into liquidation? There has to be something more to it, because otherwise, why would stores which are trading well be at risk of shutting down? I miss the dine-in Pizza Huts. I've got memories of going to the one closest to where I live with my grandparents and cousins when I was little. The exact same thing happened here too ironically enough, our dine-in Pizza Hut closed less than a year after the Sizzler went out of business.

That said, that Sizzlers even attracted the attention of KIIS Melbourne's breakfast team, Jase & PJ, to drive all the way to Campbelltown, just to go to a Sizzler. Here's a Radioinfo article about it: radioinfo.com.au/news/jase-pjs-epic-sizzler-sojournAs for whether there's still a dine-in Pizza Hut restaurant in nearby St Andrews, yes it's still open.

Collins Food Limited (they also have KFC) doesn’t see them profitable these days and are putting greater focus to their KFC operations, which are unsurprisingly hugely profitable. www.sharecafe.com.au/2019/06/26/sizzler-fizzles-but-kfc-delivers-for-collins-food/I miss the dine-in Pizza Huts. I had many birthday parties at the local Pizza Hut. Times change of course, but it is a shame that places like Sizzler and Pizza Hut are slowly closing stores and will become a thing of the past. I guess people’s tastes have changed over the years (decades) and are more interested in fine dining than these casual eateries.
