In ten years time, what do you think will come to mind when someone thinks of 2010s music, TV shows, movies etc.? I know it's easy for us to say that Trap songs such as "Gucci Gang", "Bodak Yellow" and "Man's Not Hot" will be remembered for years to come, but generally speaking, only the "best" songs are fondly remembered and receive radio airplay in the following decades. For instance, the 2000s had a lot of songs which were complete rubbish, but you don't hear anyone talk about "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It", "Rockstar", "Laffy Taffy" or "Ooh Aah".

In terms of movies, the 2010s will definetly be remembered for superhero movies considering the succes of the MCU and also those dystopian movies like The Hunger Games and Maze Runner. In terms of music, I feel like the EDM/trap music of 2015- will be forgotten quicker than the big pop songs during the first half of the decade, artists like Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift will be remembered much more than the likes of Halsey and Lil Uzi Vert.

I tend to agree actually. To be honest, I have my doubts that most of the songs which have been released since 2016 will be fondly remembered in the next few decades. I can see songs such as "Sign of the Times", "Malibu", "Despacito" and "Zombie" being remembered as big hits of the Late 2010s, but definitely not songs such as "Psycho", "Love Lies" and "Meant To Be".

People will always say something like this. The truth is, songs from every year will eventually be looked back on fondly. From my experience, there are actually a lot of people who like most music since 2016, and most people who don't like songs in this decade are mostly older people.

True, but only a select number of songs are truly remembered down the track. For instance, if you think back to what the most popular songs were in 2012, you only ever hear people still talking about songs such as "Gangstam Style", "One Thing", "Thrift Shop" and "Call Me Maybe". Those songs are generally what come to mind when people think of 2012. "We Are Young", "Diamonds" and "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" were big hits at the time as well, yet people have seemingly forgot about them.

Actually, thanks to an old meme back in 2015, "We are young" hasn't really been forgotten

Is it bad I don't even know a bunch of the songs listed?! Lololl.
I've been thinking a bit on this topic myself, but I'll say what I always do: It depends on what changes. So what the music style/popular movie genre, etc. is next decade will affect what retrospectively reminds one of this decade.
So will superhero/YA dystopian/Star Wars movies hold on strong, or will the public grow tired? My suspicion is that they won't be going away based on corporate investment, but they may cease to be as big of a deal as they have been. Not to turn this into a speculation post, but I'm going to assume that these movies WILL mark the decade.
Songs...still up in the air.

I say songs from Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, T-Swift, Khalid, Kendrick, Nicki Minaj, Camila Cabello, Rhianna, Eminem, Drake, and Adele people will remember them in the future.

Only Adele will be remembered and I'm not even a fan! She is at least all about the music and writes lyrics which are actually coherent unlike the messy dance/metal/hiphop noise which is prevalent today.
And yes, I am of the older generation! I'm probably the oldest on this site!

I mean he doesn't necessarily have a big hit that brings him immediately to mind, and tons of other artists are either equally or even more popular. I'm pretty sure people will have a much easier time remembering artists like Macklemore, Iggy Azalea, Childish Gambino, Carly Rae Jepsen or Meghan Trainor for having an unforgettable hit.

I tend to agree. The only Khalid song which he might be remembered for is "Young, Dumb & Broke", in my opinion. However, with that said, there were bigger hits than "Young, Dumb & Broke" in 2017.

Ugh, what a bad song to be remembered for, lol.
