I know this is a ridiculous idea for a thread, but I had a haircut earlier today and while I was getting it done, it reminded me of something from my childhood. From when I was about 5-10 years old, my Mum would try to encourage me to get my hair spiked whenever we went to the hairdressers (I always refused to ), because a lot of the other boys at school used to get their hairs spiked and it was basically viewed as being "cool". That was back in the Mid-Late 2000s. I was thinking about this earlier, but you very rarely see kids or teens with spiky hair now. Maybe it's just my local area, but it seems like spiky hair has been completely out of fashion for a few years. In retrospect, there were very few people at my high school who had their hair spiked. A friend of mine briefly spiked his hair in our final year of High School and he was the only person in my year group who had that type of hairstyle. Is it just me, or is spiky hair unpopular now? I would be interested to hear other people's perspectives on the topic.

BTW, would you say ice-cream hair is different from spiky hair? Because ice-cream hair is still popular, I think. It's like, the default hairstyle for YouTubers/former Viners/musical.ly stars.

Every other boy wore his hair that way! Even some girls had their hair cut short in the back with swept bangs so they could spike the back. It's only natural that fashions make comebacks, but I just hope if it comes back bleach blonde tips doesn't come with it. Putting gel in your hair to keep it spiked would be a hassle too.

Spiky hair was just as popular here as it was in the U.S. I don't remember seeing girls with swept bangs at all, but a lot of the other boys at my school had their hair spiked. I never did it though. Hasn't been since the 2000s. I thought that would be the case. To be honest, I never really thought of spiky hair as being a trend unique to the 2000s. I know spiky hair was massively popular back then, but I've always just considered it to be a standard type of hairstyle, rather than a fad/trend.

Don't think it's popular anymore. In my school the most popular haircut for boys is the undercut.
