Feels like i'm living in the tropics at the moment. It has been very warm and muggy. Despite what those rain icons may suggest, we're only expected to receive as little as 1-5mm of rain each day. We desperately need a consistent stretch of heavy rain, because things are really starting to get dire. Sydney's average total dam capacity is now just 42.6% and it's continuing to drop. Some towns in NSW have already ran out of water. If Sydney runs out of water as well (which is looking like a real possibility), it's going to be complete armageddon. And on the other hand, I feel like I'm not in the tropics today, more like the subtropics. darksky.net/details/14.606,121.020/2020-1-22/si12/en It's still muggy-ish, but at least it's windy and the dewpoints are not in the 24-27 C range.

Now Canberra is under threat from bushfires. Severe drought, half a billion animals wiped out, hundreds of bushfires burning across the country. This is the summer from hell.

Hobart Airport recorded its hottest day ever reaching a top of 41.4C earlier this afternoon. The previous record was 40.8C set on 30th December last year. Hobart’s maximum was 40.4C. Overnight temps are not expected to be any lower than 23C, with thunderstorms forecast for tonight and tomorrow.

I think it reached about 43°C here this afternoon, it felt really humid outside as well (even though BOM says that the humidity was only 20%).

Most day time temperatures are above 0C or just a little below it.

This was what the weather has been like at my place, up until today that is.. photo taken at Mermaid Beach, Surfers Paradise. We have a week of rain forecast now though. Finally, the 'big wet' looks as though it might make an appearance this year!

Great to hear you guys are in for a substantial amount of rain over the next few days. Hopefully this same system will also help out in some of the bushfire-affected areas of NSW, too. Mermaid Beach is quite nice. I visited there while on holiday in Brisbane and the GC a couple of years ago. I actually had dinner at one of the few remaining Sizzler restaurants left.

EyewitnessTV .. Had i met you earlier, I woulda advised you to give Brisbane a miss, save your money and stay on the Coast lol. Do you remember the Sizzler you went to? Was it Annerley? Went there many times! My nephews would always eat way more then they shoulda .. and end up having to lay on the floor .. after they had . I guess eating their way to the stage that they would musta been pleasurable for them, cause they kept repeating it .. over and over again. As for the weather, just logged onto the Courier Mail and have seen this .. It is absolutely pouring down here!

Friday looks like it will be the first day of winter. It will only last for two days though before the late autumn (early spring?) weather comes back.

It's twenty to six and the rain has only just hit us, even though parts of Sydney have been receiving rain for most of the afternoon. The BOM is forecasting that Wollongong could receive up to 200mm of rain on both Saturday and Sunday! We're expected to receive rain every day for at least a week.
