Gross. New Years ruined by 25mm of rain yesterday . I would have preferred snow; at least you can stand outside in the snow. 1 January High: -1°C (windchill: -4°) Low: -12°C (windchill: -15°) Mostly cloudy.

2 January
Morning: -13°C Day: -7°C Night: -3°C
Sunny during the day, lake-effect snow (huge drop, giant snowflakes) in the evening and overnight.
----
Thank God the snow is back! It felt so wrong to play winter songs when I was getting rained on on New Year's.

Haha, that’s an ordinary run-of-the-mill day for you guys in Summer though! You would be used to it. We rarely get near the 40c mark, even during the Summer months. We are lucky down here.

Anything above 30C is a very big deal for Tasmanians though. 2 January Morning: -13°C Day: -7°C Night: -3°C Sunny during the day, lake-effect snow (huge drop, giant snowflakes) in the evening and overnight. ---- Thank God the snow is back! It felt so wrong to play winter songs when I was getting rained on on New Year's. -3C seems rather mild for a winter's night at this time of year!

Anything above 30C is a very big deal for Tasmanians though. We can get quite a few 30c days this time of the year but rarely 40c. We usually sit between mid to high 20s for the most part. Speaking, most of Tassie will be on a total fire ban tomorrow because of the extreme heat and winds. The state is pretty tinder-dry in most areas so it’s not really surprising.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I'm sure the state wouldn't want a repeat of what happened back in January 2016, when the entire state was covered by a thick layer of smoke and there were several uncontrolled bushfires.
