Today it was 86F (30C), and due to the wildfires in my area it was incredibly hazy.

BTW, there's this joke on the YouTube comments section that Perfect Day and Another Dumb Blonde were clearly sent to the wrong movie studios because the movies they were used for as soundtrack music totally didn't match the lyrics. That wouldn't make sense. Reese Witherspoon was a smart blonde. That's unless she was singing it to imply she wasn't a dumb blonde. But on-topic, I heard about the drought in New South Wales on the news today. It must be pretty bad if it's making international news! It said something about the region having it driest year since 1965. I mean, the song is about someone getting mistaken for a dumb blonde.

It said something about the region having it driest year since 1965. It's interesting to hear that the drought is making international news! You're right though, the drought that we are currently experiencing is pretty bad. The entire state of New South Wales has been declared as being in drought and many parts of Queensland and Victoria are suffering from the drought as well. To be honest, I don't understand why the desalination plant in Sydney hasn't been used to provide some relief for the farmers, especially considering the fact that we are not expected to receive any significant rainfall anytime soon. It's probably due to the fact that the desalination plant would consume a lot of electricity and increase electricity prices for households, as a result, but it would really benefit a lot of people at the present time.

Its been really cold here this week, around 15C highs and 10C lows. Although it might not seem that cold, the constant wind and rain has made it feel like 10 time colder. Does your house have central heating? Today it was 86F (30C), and due to the wildfires in my area it was incredibly hazy. I heard about that! Vancouver is engulfed by the same haze. And with summer being the dry season on the west coast, it doesn't look to be abating any time soon 16th August High: 29°C / 21°C. Sunny, turning cloudy in the evening. Humid (dewpoint: 21°C). Chance of thunderstorms of tonight.

It rained a lot last night, but I don't know if there was any lightning.
17th August
High: 29°C / Low: 17°C. Dark, heavy rain. Foul odour. Suffocatingly humid (dewpoint: 25°C). In short, the worst summer day of the year! Thunderstorm ongoing right now, chance of more thunderstorms overnight.

Apparently we're finally going to get some decent rain in Sydney on the weekend...possibly even up to 20mms on one of the days? Either way, we still need more over the next 2-3 months. I think due to the drought the bushfire season is going to start in September this year rather than the usual October. After the March flames in Tathra, the April fires in Holsworthy/Menai + the fires only in the last week or so in places like Bomaderry and Salt Ash...you really have to wonder if we're looking at similarities to 2013 (or hopefully not, worse) during September/October. If I'm not mistaken, the Kurnell desalination plant won't be switched on until Warragamba Dam goes under 60% while water restrictions kick in when Warragamba falls below 50% Also, repairs might still need to be made to the Kurnell plant after it got damaged in 2015 storms (I'm sure I heard something like that on the news recently anyway).

20th August High: 26°C / 20°C. Cloudy. Chance of rain tonight. I forgot to mention that Toronto flooded again on Friday, and another huge thunderstorm is headed our way tomorrow that might flood the city again. In contrast to New South Wales, we seem to have more rain than we know what to do with
