We can get quite a few 30c days this time of the year but rarely 40c. We usually sit between mid to high 20s for the most part. Speaking, most of Tassie will be on a total fire ban tomorrow because of the extreme heat and winds. The state is pretty tinder-dry in most areas so it’s not really surprising. Yeah, that's a good idea. I'm sure the state wouldn't want a repeat of what happened back in January 2016, when the entire state was covered by a thick layer of smoke and there were several uncontrolled bushfires. The state certainly wouldn’t want a repeat of the 2012/13 bushfires which burnt through quite a lot of townships on the East Coast, including Dunalley. Hobart achieved its highest ever temperature of 41.8°C back in January 2013. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_Tasmanian_bushfires

Anything above 30C is a very big deal for Tasmanians though. 2 January Morning: -13°C Day: -7°C Night: -3°C Sunny during the day, lake-effect snow (huge drop, giant snowflakes) in the evening and overnight. ---- Thank God the snow is back! It felt so wrong to play winter songs when I was getting rained on on New Year's. -3C seems rather mild for a winter's night at this time of year! Yes, the average lows for this time of year is around -9°C. It's been a very mild winter so far.

3 January High: 0°C Low: -2°C Snow in the early morning. Overcast later. 4 January High: 7°C Low: 0°C Sunny. 5 January High: 3°C Low: -2°C Overcast, some sunshine around sunset. --- Winter still nowhere to be seen 5 days into January. I'm regretting dropping $800 on that parka

6 January High: 4°C (windchill: 1°) Low: -10°C (windchill: -16°) Mostly sunny. Snow in early morning and again in the early afternoon. ---- The birds were chirping this morning! Poor souls, they must have confused the weather of the past few days for spring. Sorry kiddos, not for another three months And again, nothing beats the feel of stepping out into the cold when you're overheated. I felt the cold air hit me when I got out the gym all sweaty, it's so exhilarating! Now I'm wondering if sweat can freeze on your face if it's cold enough Lastly, it looks like winter is finally here! But first we have to get through some more chaotic autumn rain/freezing rain

Sunny today. High of 26C. Trying to rub it in, eh. EyewitnessTV has had his turn I think. It's time for him to send you back here for the next few months 7 January Morning: -9°C (windchill: -15°). Overcast. Day: -5°C (windchill: -14°). Intermittent snow, ice pellets. Windy (40 km/h, gusts of 70 km/h) Night: -1°C (windchill: - 10°). Windy (55 km/h), freezing rain. Overnight: 4°C (windchill: -2°). Windy (40 km/h). Raining. ---- Active storm track over us brining in hot but chaotic weather. It will be the storm that plunges us into winter.

Thunderstorm currently hitting the Illawarra region, here's a panoramic shot taken 24 minutes ago of the storm approaching.

8 January High: 7°C Low: -1°C Mostly cloudy. 9 January High: 1°C (windchill: -5°) Low: -9°C (winechill: -18°) Snowing most the day. Windy (40 km/h) Mostly cloudy. ---- Sunset today. Still not much snow on the ground, but enough to not make me feel stupid for playing winter music The sidewalks are so slippery from the freezing rain from a few days ago. My brother slipped and fell on his ass. That's the second time in a year! (last was in spring 2018). No weather phenomenon more infuriating tbh

popedia.boards.net/page/weather-hubI'm in the process of developing a "Weather Hub" feature for Popedia, which will display weather information for various locations around the world. It's something I've had in mind for quite a while and I know that there are a lot of us who have an interest in the weather, so I thought that it would be a good idea. I've already created a page based on the weather forecasts for our locations. The weather information is up to date and the backgrounds change to match the forecasts for each area. Please let me know what you think and if anything should be improved.

10 January High: -6°C (windchill: -14°) Low: -15°C (windchill: -24°) Snowing. Windy (35 km/h). Mostly sunny. ---- Winter has come! Three weeks late but better late than early. I will never get used to the way the sun makes the falling snowflakes glow, it's always captivating 😍 Snow pile up. It's too cold for snow to melt now! 9th of January vs. 10th of January. Now I can listen to winter music guilt-free
