I look at it this way:
You can be a girl, boy, both or neither.
Whether that makes four or just a variation of the two, whatever. All options should cover what occurs in nature, and one could transition to any.
What kind of annoys me is the infinite genders thing because imo it actually bastardizes the whole idea of being trans or non-binary. Someone deciding they're like unicorn gender or some shit is just calling some traits or desires to be their gender, which I find to be bringing in things that don't really correlate to the core of the topic.
I think we still retain notions of gender as a society that are pretty pointless and that the subject will become easier to grasp once we move past them. For example, clothes nor hairstyles do not have a gender. Many still seem caught up in these superficial aspects of it. It was considered stylish and masculine for men to wear wigs, heels and makeup just a few centuries ago; we are only making assumptions based on the average of what we see.
Honestly I think gender is too big of a deal right now. I mean, I think it's good that visibility of those who do not identify with the gender they were assigned with has drastically increased. I think it's good that we are associating appearances and personality traits less with gender. But I also think there are people who have never had issues with it that are now jumping in and making it one.

From the "Are you on the Political Left or Political Right?" thread: I'm intersex so that two genders argument crumbles down instantly. And it's not a scientifically or historically accurate anyways. But I do understand your POV I think its okay to be critical of some aspects of BLM or pride parades but people should understand why such movements exist in the first place. It comes down to a lack of education on the matter more than anything. How can something as complex as gender be split into just two broad categories; "male" or "female"? If kids were taught in schools that people can possess the behavioural, physical and emotional traits from both sets of genders, it would surely go a long way to break down the rigidness and stereotypes associated with the notion of gender identity. Also, there are cases of males who were born with an extra X chromosome and have the physical characteristics of both genders. That in itself should dispel the idea that gender has to be strictly defined. Yes, there are two biological genders, but there are exceptions to that and gender itself is largely a social construct. We should be shedding more light onto this. This is a topic that I feel strongly about. I've never spoken about this before (both online or in real life) and it's really hard for me to bring up, but I've personally had gender identity issues myself since the age of 8. I do identify as a male, however I can't really relate with a lot of the things associated with my gender and I wish I was born as the opposite gender. Of course, you're always going to get doubters who continue to believe in the archaic ways of thinking, but I feel as though more people would embrace the LGBTI community or minority groups if they understood why they identify themselves the way they do. People don't choose to be gay, bi or transgender. Transgender people don't choose to transition so that they can put themselves at an increased risk of rape, suicide or social exclusion. They are doing so because they are wanting to live as who they are, as people. It's a case of genetics and it's naive of people to think that everyone has to relate or identify with the behaviours associated with their biological gender.

I thought we had come to a conclusion that there's just 2 genders. I guess not.

Sex & gender are different. There’s only 2 biological sexes, however, gender is more fluid.

Real talk. Does anyone remember talking about this 10 years ago? I kid you not there was once upon a time where there were only 2 genders. Why the fuck is this even up for a debate?

Liberals should acknowledge that there are just two genders and when they understand that they will at long last quit talking about it.

The 'more than 2 genders" debate is just conservatives trying to make liberals look foolish for their own good.

The 'more than 2 genders" debate is just conservatives trying to make liberals look foolish for their own good. I think there was this dumb Tumblr trend where teenage girls pretended to be weird genders like "bunny-kin" and conservatives hanged it on transgender people as a whole even though transgender people have been documented for thousands of years over several cultures.
