I thought this would be an interesting topic. What is the first year you can remember and what is the first year you can begin to remember things clearly?
The first year I can remember is 2001, although I only have one or two vague memories from the year. I do have a very vague memory from Late 2000, but I either don't consider it when discussing this or I regard it along with my memories of 2001. The first year I can remember really well is 2003, when I was 4 years old. It's the first year I can clearly remember what I was listening to, what shows I was watching, where I went etc.

I was born in 2002. I have vague memories of 2005 and more clearer ones from 2006.

The first year I remember vividly well was 2001, because it was a very eventful year for me.

I can very vaguely remember seeing Ten's coverage of the attacks, however I was only about 2 and a half years old at the time, so my memory of it is pretty sketchy.

I remember my whole family being "glued" to the TV watching the coverage, I believe we were watching Nine's coverage, IIRC.. It happened 3 days after my 5th Birthday so I remember that attack very well. :/

The first year I can remember is 2002. However, the first year which I have vivid memories from is 2003. I was quite surprised recently when I was telling my mum about how I remember going on holiday when I was younger and told her quite a lot of what I rememebr from the trip, which was a fairly detailed response. The strange thing was I always thought I went on this trip around 2004 sometime, so both me and her were quite surprised when she turned around and told me we actually took that trip in 2002, when I was only around 2.5 years old and that I could recall the events so well.

It's interesting to hear that you can vividly remember things from when you were three! I can remember a few things from 2002 (when I was 3), but they're not as clear as my memories from 2003 onward. They're not vague, but they're definitely not as vivid as my later memories. Also, thanks for sharing your story in regards to remembering a holiday from when you were younger. I bet you must have been really surprised when you found out that it was actually from two years earlier! I had a pretty similar experience about a month ago. I have a memory of my cousin coming over to my house. Until very recently, I always thought that it was from 2002, because I can remember it fairly well. But I had a look through one of my family photo albums and it was actually from Late 2001! It's interesting how memories are formed over time. I guess as we age, we lose the whole concept of time and how it relates to memories.

My earliest memories stem from the age of 3.

The first year I really remember is 1995. Though they were not consistent, I have a few cinematic memories from the mid-to-late portion of that year, including my 3rd birthday party, being told I was bigger than everyone next to a particular street intersection, and watching Barney & Friends. My memories became fully consistent around the second half of 1996.

I think it old have been cool if I had some memories from the '80s, however that is obviously impossible. Although, at least I can remember a time when people weren't constantly staring down at their phones all day on Instagram.
The other day, the Internet service was down at my house and everyone started freaking out like we didn't know what to do anymore and It made me think of how different the 2000s (even the early 2010s to some extent) really are at this point.

1975 - I remember not wanting to go to my first day of school, called the teachers some names that began with 'B' can blame my late grandfather for me knowing words like that 1977 - still remember to this day being in grade 3 and being hit by a car (van actually), he didn't stop either. Police came around to my house. Also remember a school camp that year and kissing a girl who is now a top Australian actress 1979 - remember often going to the football with my Nanna or my Uncle.
