But anyways back on topic, the 2000s are a very complex decade, so many minor things happened each year

Like what? Electropop not being popular until late 2008/late 2009? That’s actually an opinion most people share in this forum. Idk what private conversations you had with him but its private for a reason. Not that, like real time events like the release date of tech or when songs came out and etc, When he does something like this I post a link below it with a website showing that he was indeed not correct. Nothing wrong with fact checking. Is it extra ? Yes but I do it because it can confuse a younger reader looking at it. Yeah, I didn't respond to his messages. Most readers here are young adults, I doubt that they can be confused. They are not that stupid and can question what they read. Certain Reddit boards have way more inaccurate information. You have to go over there to battle them instead of here lol.

I think we can all agree on this, 2007 is NOT a quintessential year lol

I mean you are the one who keeps responding to his comments while he was just posting his opinion. Even he does give inaccurate info about the 2000s, that’s no excuse of attacking him just because of that. You are in your 30s and still acting like this. It’s just immature. Mind you, and you don't know about this but Nightmare farm kept sending me messages on here over and over again un unwarranted, ISlander. Post the full log.

For me its 2005. While 2004 has better pop culture and the year that found its cultural identity, 2005 has everything that screams the 2000s. 2005 was the peak of mid 00s culture. Along with the last traces of early 00s culture and the first hints of the upcoming late 00s culture. 2005 just had that perfect mixture of early, mid, and late 00s cultures all into one. The Summer in 2005 felt super 2000s more than any other summer in my opinion

At least if you're talking the vibe of Summer 2005, then it was definitely quintessentially 2000s, especially with people playing Halo 2 and GTA: SA like crazy. And as for ultimate proof of this, well, I'm speaking from the perspective of a child during this time rather than a teen like you, but remember on another thread where I said the CN City era was the quintessential 2000s era of Cartoon Network. Well, if the CN City era was the peak of 2000s Cartoon Network, then Summer 2005, in turn, was the peak of the CN City era, in other words, it was the peak of the peak.

I agree 100%, Cn City felt like CN could not get any bigger tbh. As for Adult Swim maybe 06 or 07 is when it peaked either year I am fine. I knew AS jumped the shark when they did that stupid April Fools thing where they played Aqua Teen movie in a small box in the corner of the screen.

I think we can all agree on this, 2007 is NOT a quintessential year lol I personally regard 2007 as transitional between the core 2000s and the GFC era. In my opinion, early 2007 was still core 2000s, mid 2007 is transitional between the two, and late 2007 is when we enter the GFC era. What really makes it feel different, to me at least, was the ending of core 2000s shows like Pimp My Ride, Drake and Josh, Danny Phantom, The Simple Life, the OC and the biggest of them all, airing since 1999, The Sopranos. The sales battle between Kanye and 50 Cent, which Kanye won, putting an end to 50 Cent as the GOAT of hip-hop like he was from 2003-2006, the fact Obama announced his run for presidency, and, at the very end of the year, the start of the Great Recession. Now personally, if I were ranking the 2000s years on how 2000s they felt, I'd go 2006 first, then 2005, then 2004, and then either 2003 or 2007. The big thing for me is that in 2003, emo wasn't everywhere yet, most people still had dial-up internet, people still bought VHS tapes, and, at least for part of the year, Windows XP wasn't even the most popular operating system. Yet I also acknowledge the start of many important core 2000s shows + the rise of 50 Cent + the oncoming "bling" aesthetic + the start of the Iraq War.

To me, the Boston bomb scare was the moment the network began its decline. That is something I will NEVER change my mind on. Not to mention, 2007 is when Adult Swim, much like Cartoon Network, began airing live-action shows, and unlike Cartoon Network, they haven't stopped doing it.

That bomb scare is around the time they did that April Fools prank, sounds about right. AS had a good run tho, 03, 04,05,06 07 being the most talked about years.

Part of why I have such a hard time picking between 2005 and 2006 in terms of Adult Swim is that both years seemed to be on par in terms of actual popularity of the network. When I think 2005 in terms of Adult Swim, this IMMEDIATELY comes to mind
Can you get anymore mid 2000s than this?

I wanna say both 2005 and 2006 so bad but I think I'll give the edge to 2005. Culturally, 2006 definitely felt like somewhat a watered down 2005, especially since that year brought a lot rising late 2000s trends that didn't really exist at all in 2005, so I think that'll make sense. But school year-wise, 2005-06' hands down. Even over 2004-05' imo.
