1979 had several, 'proto-'80s' songs which sounded ahead of their time (e.g "Video Killed The Radio Star", "Pop Muzik"), but this one sounds like it could have been released after the new-wave era. I could easily picture this being on the charts alongside "Addicted to Love" or "Simply Irresistible". It has that same anthem-like quality to it which was typical of many rock songs released during the mid-late '80s.
