Of course, it remains to be seen what 2019 will be like for music, but in the interim, I thought it would be interesting if we discussed what the worst year for music would be so far?
My least favourite year for music this decade would have to be 2016. Honestly, there would only be about 3 or 4 songs from 2016 that I actually like and none of them achieved success on the Top-40 charts. I remember music felt really stale that year.

I can't vote in this poll because all of this decade's music is crap!

Mainstream 2010's music has hit rock bottom right now, so probably 2017/2018.

2018 started very good but as the year went on it got worse and worse. I like 50% what is mainstream at the moment

Why do you all judge on 2018 already... I mean we're just half way through it.

Undoubtedly 2016. Hardly anything from that year is really that superlative. For the most part, those 12 months were dominated by middling EDM and stale, mumbly trap.

To be honest, I would personally consider 2016 to be the worst year for music since the Early '60s. There was hardly anything with real substance.

My vote goes to 2014. That year was pretty much all teen pop, disco revial, and #Selfie.
2016 was pretty bad but I did like the dancehall music during the second half of the year and that saved it in my opinion. I don't get the hate for 2018. I'm really loving this year for music.

I'm not sure if I would personally consider it to be the worst year for music though. Also, welcome to Popedia bchris02! Good to see you here.

I really didn't like the direction music went in 2013, especially the teen pop and the disco revival. Music in my opinion bottomed out in 2014 before slowly improving starting in 2015. Songs like "Happy" and "Shake It Off" and "All About That Bass" just aren't my cup of tea. Looking at the year end chart for 2014, there are only a few songs in the Top 25 that I think are decent and listenable.

My vote goes to 2014. That year was pretty much all teen pop, disco revial, and #Selfie. I would call it the "booty year" because nearly every hit felt like it was designed to be twerked on. I'm guessing because miss Miley popularized the thing among the teens the year before, taking it away from the New Orlean bounce scene. I mean just hear these atrocities: And of course this abomination: Very unpleasant year Fortunately 2015 moved away from this trend and went to become the best year of the decade!
