Sad to see 2018 winning so far , I personally think it's doing great so far and we're only in August, and I would even confortably put in my top 3 for this decade. Just so many hit songs have been very effective to me, minus a few blunts (most notably Friends, FEFE and Freaky Friday). I guess it's too brandnew for its own good... I'm genuinely surprised that 2016 hasn't received more votes, to be honest. I personally thought it was a really weak and underwhelming year for music, so much so that I would regard it as the worst year for music since the start of the 21st Century.

I don't mind 2016 but its hit songs had the bad tendency of being much slower than they needed to be which I think amplified the feeling of dullness. I mean put these songs at higher speed. Don't they sound much better?
Also yeah, there was also the lack of diversity with many songs being either Trap, Future Bass or Dancehall-driven. What was once fresh in 2015 started to become bland in 2016.

Anyone who disses 2015/6 music should have to listen to 2004 music for the rest of eternity as punishment!! (That goes for you SharksFan99)

(That goes for you SharksFan99) That's not a punishment and I would absolutely not mind it cuz 2004 was fckin great Though if you sayed 2014 instead, I would have probably begged for straight up torture as an alternative...

Im not surprised that 2014 and 2018 are winning in this poll as I would agree that they are the worst years for music this decade. Coincidentally 2004 and 2008 also happen to be my least favourite years for music In the 2000s.

My 2016 playlist is by far the smallest of this decade. It was a slow, drab year for music. In fact it was so bad I was really worried that I was simply becoming too old for pop music and that I would never again enjoy it like I did in my teens and twenties. I was into vinyl collecting that year and was more into classic rock and indie folk than I was Top 40. However, it did have a some songs I really liked, especially the dancehall stuff, and that keeps it from being the worst in by book.

Oh, definitely 2016, it was such a boring year for music. I'm not a exactly a fan of 2018 but, I wouldn't call it terrible.

What in the world is with all the 2018 hate? Is it just because the worst songs of this year are still fresh in people's minds?

What in the world is with all the 2018 hate? Is it just because the worst songs of this year are still fresh in people's minds? I don't really understand it either. Admittedly, i'm not as much of a fan of 2018 as you and Telso are, however I personally wouldn't consider it to be one of the worst years for music this decade. There have been quite a number of songs released this year which I actually genuinely like, such as Bad Wolves' cover of "Zombie", Shawn Mendes' "In My Blood" (albeit, overplay has ruined the song for me) and Twenty One Pilot's brand new single, "Jumpsuit". Could the backlash against 2018 purely be as a result of a general fatigue towards EDM and Trap music?
