Is it ethical to photoshop images used for advertising? Does it create false illusions which can have a negative impact on our minds? Is it okay within reasonable limits? Or should advertising simply be considered a world of fantasy? Should it be considered inherently distrustful and something we are taught to ignore. www.businessinsider.com/women-abandon-victorias-secret-for-aerie-photos-2018-2I find it interesting how lack of photoshop is apparently good for business. Consumers are speaking with their dollars. What about facetune? Are we falsely advertising ourselves by using beauty filters and apps to edit our own photos? Is it creating unrealistic standards even among everyday people? Or is it okay because it everyone is doing it? Can it improve a person's confidence?

I personally believe the use of Photoshop in the media does more harm than good. That's not to suggest that it shouldn't be used in the media at all, of course, however I do think the way in which it is used can significantly impact someone's mental well-being.
A case in point would be the use of Photoshop in fashion advertising. There would be young girls who try to model themselves off the women who feature in beauty magazines and commercials. They set unrealistic expectations on themselves to try and look just like them, when the women they are aspiring to look like don't even look like how they appear in the advertising.
