I'm not sure if anyone else feels the same way or not, but does anyone else on here have a strong dislike of the general public? I've had a negative perception of the public ever since I was 9/10 years old and these are the reasons why:
* The fact that so many people just chuck their rubbish onto the ground, even though there is a bin only a few metres away from them. It makes me sick that there are people like that in the world. You go to somewhere like a walking trail in a national park and all you see is McDonalds rubbish littered all along the edge of the trail. The ecosystem is suffering as a result of people's habit of littering. The worst thing is that they don't give a toss about it.
* People are like sheep. They go on holidays at the exact same time, they go to the exact same tourist destinations (i.e Bondi Beach), they buy the exact same things, they watch the exact same things.
* Some people like to eavesdrop or stare at you as you go past them. This really peeves me off. Yes, I am driving past you as you are walking along the street, it doesn't mean that you have to stare at me as I go past. Mind your own god damn business.
* Idiotic drivers. Seriously, how hard is it to do the speed limit or move over to the left lane if you're not overtaking anyone. How can someone be so ignorant.
* Most people seem to lack the ability to think of anything except for whatever is happening directly in front of them. It's like they are incapable of thinking of the bigger picture. They just stare at their TV screens and consume whatever is being told to them without ever questioning it.
* To me, the people on Gogglebox are the epitome of why I dislike the public as much as I do. They have brains the size of a peanut and make such dumb comments, that I can't believe they are even capable of living on their own.

I share many of your pet peeves but I don't have a dislike for the general public. I think the majority of people are good and kind

I don't have a strong dislike for the general public, just for those who try to piss me off at the wrong time.

I guess my general dislike for the public is more so directed at their actions, rather than the people themselves. I think of the majority of people as being good as well, but my overall perception of the public is soured when I see/hear things which go against my values.

I wouldn't say that I have a particularly strong dislike for the general public (even though my viewpoints are often different to those of the majority), but this point in particular... They go on holidays at the exact same time, they go to the exact same tourist destinations A sizeable majority of Sydneysiders probably fit into this category, with the Central & South Coasts being particularly popular holiday destinations because they're a reasonably short drive (an hour or so) from Sydney. It's probably for this reason that I don't have quite as positive of an opinion of both regions as I should even on visits taken outside of peak holiday periods.

I understand that many families have budget constraints and can only take holidays at certain times of the year, but it's still something which I find particularly annoying. There are so many other places within a reasonably close distance to Sydney which families could choose to take a holiday, yet they continue to flock in droves to places such as Port Stephens and Lake Conjola.

I certainly do. I hate the human race in general.

As some of you know, I've always had a general dislike for the public, but today proved me to that there are genuinely nice people in the world. There's a woman in her 30s who walks across the pedestrian crossing I work at every morning/afternoon and she is one of the very few people who is always friendly to me. We always say good morning to each other and wish each other a good day. Anyway, this afternoon she went to go across the crossing as per normal. It all went to script, until I noticed that she was holding a gift bag in one of her hands. She handed the gift bag to me and said, "thank you for your work this year and I would like to give you this gift, Merry Christmas". She had bought me a box of Cadbury Favourites (a box of chocolates) for me as a Christmas present and she also wrote me a Christmas card. It came as a complete surprise, that's for sure! I told her how thankful I was and I jokingly said that I felt guilty that I couldn't give her a present in return, which she laughed off. Her giving me that Christmas gift really made my day. She doesn't even know me personally, so the fact that she went out of her way to give a stranger a Christmas present is something that I truly cherish. As a result, i'm in a bit of a dilemma at the moment. I would love to give her a Christmas card/present to show how appreciative I am of the gift I received, but I don't know her personally and I don't know what her name is. Who could I address the card to? I know that she wouldn't be expecting me to give her a gift. What could I even buy her anyway (besides a card)? She gave me a box of chocolates; I can't give her a box of chocolates as well. Also, it makes me wonder if she will even go across the crossing tomorrow. This week is the final week before the Christmas school holidays and a lot of people tend to have the last few days of term off. She hasn't been walking with her son to school every morning and afternoon over the past few days, so i'm wondering if she gave me the gift this afternoon knowing that she won't be able to hand it to me tomorrow. Tomorrow is my last workday of the year and I've been working every Monday and Tuesday at that crossing for over half the year, so she would likely know that I won't be there later on in the week. I might not even be able to hand her a Christmas card/present. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?
