As the title suggests, what type of dwelling do you live in?
I live in a single-storey house. My parents built the house during the Mid '90s, so we're the original homeowners.

Single story house. Wish our house was a little bigger though...

Three storey house (including the finished basement). That's interesting to hear. Are three-storey houses common in Canada? Down here, three-storey houses are quite rare, as the majority of homes don't have basements.

Down here, three-storey houses are quite rare, as the majority of homes don't have basements. Every house I've lived in and been to as far as I can recall has had a basement, so I would hazard a guess that it's standard. Some houses are even mostly below ground. I'm surprised you guys don't have a basement. They stay cold in the summer with almost no need for AC! But then again, you guys do have a lot of wildlife/bugs/spiders, and those critters love basements. Oh well, you learn something new everyday. I found this on Wikipedia

There was also this weird tunnel system directly above our bedrooms which you could crawl through and end up in my sister's closet. Was kinda creepy.

I found this on Wikipedia Yeah, I think it's likely that basements would be standard in Canada, because from what I understand, they are commonplace in America and Canada's building practices probably wouldn't be too dissimilar to America's. Haha. It is strange that basements aren't standard here, but I'd say it's simply due to our strong ties with Britain. Most homes in Britain don't have basements either, as far as I know. They're not very common here either, although my old house had a basement and an attic. There was also this weird tunnel system directly above our bedrooms which you could crawl through and end up in my sister's closet. Was kinda creepy. I thought that would have been the case. In regards to your old house, that's really strange! It's odd that the tunnel system ended in a closet.

Single Storey 1950s built dwelling. I used to live in an early 1900s home, and sometime before that I lived in a three story house.
