For example:
This was a big hit for them in 1999, but as of now people think it’s Shrek’s theme song (due to usage of it in the opening credits) and take the lyrics literally. Another ruined fact is that it’s now a playground chant with some lyrics changed (“somebody once told me the world is macaroni” and “she was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her bum”).

That's a good example. Here are a few more songs which I think would fit into this category:
* "The Horses" by Darryl Braithwaite - It was a chart-topping hit here in Australia back in 1991, but now it is widely known as a meme on social media. * "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks - Has been extensively used in Best 'N Less commercials for the past 12-18 months.

For me personally, “Gas Gas Gas” by Manuel is the biggest example of this. It was one of my favourite eurobeat songs ever back when it first came out in September 2007, but a few years ago, it emerged an Internet meme that was specifically based around the Holocaust. ‘Gas’ went from an engine-themed sexual metaphor to a trivialization of the fatal substances used to kill Jews in Auschwitz. Manuel himself was absolutely horrified when he found out how the alt-right tainted the song’s reputation.

"Bohemian Rhapsody", without a doubt. The 2018 biographical film about Freddie Mercury has resulted in me losing any remaining interest in Queen's music, which is a shame, because I think they're a great band. The thing that most annoys me is that the movie has made Queen's music more accessible for the shallow, mainstream fans who consume anything and everything. The Top-40 stations in my local area have been playing "Bohemian Rhapsody" so much since the release of the movie, that now I am completely sick of hearing it.

Easily this:
My enjoyment of the music of Oasis is well known, and this song actually started it. Unfortunately, it appears that this song is be meme now for some reason which means that it will become more well known with my generation. It is probably my least favourite Oasis song, it has become tiring because of frequent radio airplay and overuse with memes that aren't funny. Other lesser known material from Oasis is far better.
Honourable mention to Africa by Toto.
And no, i'm not saying this because it's 'edgy' to dislike a band's most popular song.

I don't understand why it has become a meme either. It's strange, because it's not as if it's cheesy in any way. I don't get it. Anyway, I would definitely have to agree with you in regards to your opinion on the song. "Wonderwall" is one of Oasis' weaker efforts, IMO.

There seems to be a common meme making fun of the supposed easyness of playing it on guitar. There's also this awful meme with 'buy now hummus and a wow extra large falafel meal for two' as a replacement for 'by now you should have somehow realised what you gotta do'. Not only does it not make sense, it also sounds completely different to the actual song.

Yikes On a horrifying note, the “Gas Gas Gas” meme was just revived to correspond to the Christchurch massacre.
