The 60's/70's, 90's, and this decade (2010's) seem to all have one thing in common - racial tensions and the rise of identity politics.
Do you think that this is just a phase that may die off by around 2022 or do you believe that it will be a thing that will last for a long time?

I have my doubts that it will ever truly go away, to be honest, and that can primarily be blamed on the rise of social media. Not only does social media allow anyone (regardless of their ideologies) to share their political views at the click of a button, their views can be heard/seen by millions of other people around the world. All you need is for someone to show their admiration for Trump and it can start a massive flame war on the internet.

Shark, you are correct. Whilst political correctness is allowed to run unchecked, there will always be these idiots.

On one hand, it brings attention to the things that need changing and problems that otherwise get swept under the rug. On the other hand it can be a gathering place for those who hold extremist viewpoints. I'd say a good start to dealing with these people is to not give into them when they're being unreasonable and making all kinds of wild demands.
