There have been a ridiculous amount of reboots/revivals across all mediums of entertainment this decade. I can't help but wonder, if movie producers and television executives had devoted the time to conceptualise new franchises rather than reviving well established brands, 2010s pop culture may have been much more progressive than how it has panned out. Here are just some of the reboots we have seen this decade:
Music: Disco-revival, throwback songs (e.g "Wild Thoughts"). TV Shows: Rosanne, Full House, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Beavis and Butthead, Rugrats, Charmed Movies: Ghostbusters, Jumanji, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Dumbo, National Lampoons, Finding Dory, The Jungle Book, Incredibles 2
Movie producers and television executives have simply become too reliant on reboots to generate a profit. It begs the question, why has this been the case? Is it because pop culture is so fragmented now, that record labels and producers are worried about their own financial sustainability? Are we simply going through a period where we have exhausted our artistic and creative endeavors? We really need a collective set of new ideas to help drive pop culture forward. Instead of progressing towards the third decade of the 21st Century, we are languishing in the past. Something needs to give.

They're a part of 2010's culture that is annoying, that's for sure.

Not really IMO. I still feel like the 2010's does have its own unique culture when it comes to music, but there have also been too many reboots when it comes to TV shows and movies. I hope it's really only a problem in this decade.

I hope it's really only a problem in this decade. This year it seemed to have ballooned to greater proportions. Many 90's shows are getting or have gotten rebooted, and I see more clothes dedicated to 90's nostalgia than ever before.

Not until this year. Every decade has some reboots and there's nothing wrong with that. However, some things should not be brought back. I feel like now it has reached the point of pandering and things are being brought back just for the sake of bringing something from the 90s back. It has actually ruined '90s nostalgia for me.
