Interesting to read. I appreciate you going to the effort of making that playlist and I generally agree with your choice of songs. In regards to the themes you selected, I think you have pretty much covered all of them. If I think of any more, I will let you know.

I also forgot a few songs so expect a few changes I'm also planning to do one for the 2010s, but that one would be a bit more challenging so I'm very open for suggestions for it

Is it a coincidence that the three worst songs on the list are all in a row.... "You're Beautiful", "Bad Day" & "Im Yours"? Nice playlist anyways, its fairly representative of the decade .

Thank you , put them together because they're so similar to me, three male uplifting pop songs with a "positive" message. I actually thought for the longest that the singers of "Bad Day" and "I'm Yours" were the same

Although "You're Beautiful" doesn't have such a positive message that you might think, its actually about a drug addict who stalks girls on the subway!

Just out of curiosity, are you intending on making the playlist based on 2000s music in America or from an international perspective? The reason why I ask is because I have thought of a few songs which could be included into the playlist, but they weren't hits in the United States.

I can't speak for SharksFan hometown, but I'm just starting to watch top Billboard, US hits of the 2000s because its like tradition. One side effect I dislike tho, they can be emotional.

I have a similar-ish, if less comprehensive playlist that covers the "core" years of the 2000s. I call it "Stay the Course." It's got ringtone rap, a couple internet songs, some representation of the Guitar Hero II craze, a bunch of emo, and even the beginnings of the rumblings of the early '10s sound.
