No, not in my experience. I can hardly remember being 5. But if you can remember it and want to consider it core childhood then good for you. Personally, age 6 is when I start remembering more

Yes definitely.
I can remember everything from the age of 5. That was 36 years ago!

Yes. I dont consider five year olds to be part of the preschool demographic, even though they could still be in preschool the year they turn five, but the fact they are old enough for kindergarten means something, especially if people born at the end of the year could enter kindergarten like three months before turning five.
To me, it goes like this:
2-4: early/preschooler (toddlerhood could extend into this)
5-9: core/grade schooler
10-11/12: late/preteen/middle schooler (fifth and sixth grade are sometimes both); 12 I sometimes think might be part of adolescence due to it being safely part of middle school, though it can be childhood since a preteen still. Nevertheless, Jean Piaget uses a 2-11 childhood range being an official psychologist.

I would say yes. I am thinking back to when I was 5 and when my little sisters were 5, we already had favourite toys, hobbies, developed friendships etc. It's not the same as being 8 or 9, but it was childhood and memories are a lot clearer at this point than 3 or 4. Yeah, I mean memories at the age of five will be a lot easier to retain than at ages 3-4 considering kindergarten and stuff lets you keep track of time. 8 and 9 will be a lot easier to remember than 5 or 6 though. 3 and 4 will be hard to remember along with age 2.

Gosh I was 5 a very long time ago. And thankfully I have clear memories of it. Like when I started school(Kindergarten). I think it is definitely part of one's core childhood.

I used to wonder what was considered "early, core, late childhood", back when I used to post on inthe00s.com. Looking back on it, I don't think most people think that way. There is no "early, core, late", there's just their childhood.
