This was something I was thinking about earlier this evening. What's the incentive behind removing the headphone jack off smartphone devices? What benefit comes out of it and why have some companies (e.g Apple) decided to remove the feature entirely?
To me, it just doesn't make any sense. Many people streams songs through their phones and there's a good chance that they would choose to listen to the songs through their headphones. It's not as if the headphone jack is made redundant by another feature on a smartphone device. There is only one way to listen to music through headphones and that's by connecting the set of headphones to the headphone jack.

Its just Apple being Apple. Just like how they only have USB-C ports on the Macs which is really, really frustrating as a Mac user myself .

I've never owned a Mac computer before (thankfully), so I haven't had to worry about it, but I can definitely understand how it would be very frustrating!

Funnily enough, I use wireless headphones all the time, I rarely used corded headphones. I started using wireless headphones in 2014.

It seems like more people dislike this feature than not. And those who don't mind well, I can't see how the presence of an unused headphone jack would be affecting them negatively.
I was discussing in another thread last week how I finally upgraded from my iphone 4. And how was I getting by on a seven-year-old phone? The technology was not conceptually any different. Sure it got buggy, I stopped being able to install updates, but that iphone was world's apart from the texter phone I had prior. My new se? It's just the same but better. And Apple knows this. Therefore they are resorting to gimmicky new features because they are otherwise currently not providing dramatic upgrades.
