Stumbled across this recently... Does anyone think this is such an ironic news opener given you only hear Stephen Quartermain's voice (commentary) and not the presenter Mal Walden in the opening headlines (as well as the fact the swans won for the first time in 70 years or so).
Post other clips here related too of other major news events!

Interesting find. One thing that really stood out to me when I watched the clip, was how much more formal news bulletins were back then. IMO, there is a pretty noticeable difference in terms of how the news was delivered back then in comparison to now. Nowadays, news bulletins are generally more colloquial and sensationalist.

Here are a few notable openers I have recorded over the years:
The WIN News opener from the day the Port Kembla Stack was demolished.
MH17 opener.
Sydney Siege opener.

Not my capture
Others that I recorded but don't know where they are!: The AFL Grand Final draw of 2010 on Nine News, where there was no title card at the beginning and an AFL premiership cup on headline supers.
And Nine News the day after Black Saturday, with Peter Hitchener and Tony Jones live in Kinglake announcing the sad passing of Brian Naylor.
