2016 was such a simpler time...i was only 11 and i was a carefree elementary schoolkid.i miss playing pokemon go during that summer with my friends and i really miss being 11 years old....2016 was the last year my grandfather was alive and life was really good. i really miss everything about summer 2016 and i would do anything to go back to that time period because i really miss the fun and excitement and i really miss going on adventures with my grandfather that year...my grandfather took my brother and i to alot of places in new york city. i remember teaching my dad how to play pokemon go and i remember riding bikes with friends and it was so much fun...since 2017 everything changed since my grandpas death...it changed my life for the worst...2018 is really boring.me and my girlfriend broke up this july because we stopped talking to eachother...growing up really fucking sucks. i wish i could time travel to 2016 or any time period in the mid 2010s because the late 2010s really fucking sucks I feel the same way about 2008. Now THAT was a simpler time.

Neither 2008 nor 2016 will ever be considered "simpler times" unless the world takes a really dark turn But I know you guys are speaking personally I know i'm going slightly off-topic here, but I actually think 2014 was a lot "darker" than what 2016 was. People tend to just focus on Donald Trump's election victory when talking about the overall political/social atmosphere of 2016 and while that in itself was a dark moment in American and world history, it doesn't compare to how gloomy 2014 was. In 2014 alone, you had ISIS be-headings and terrorist attacks regularly being reported on the news, the disappearance of MH370, the Crimea annexation, the Ebola epidemic, Russia's involvement with bringing down MH17 and the general rise in lone-wolf terrorist attacks around the world. It genuinely felt as though it was the year from hell and there was little to no optimism at all about the future.

The terrorism was worse in 2016 than 2014, and that's before you add Trump and Brexit.

Then again, I hate every year after 2012. Personally and culturally the 2010s to me are awful and I consider it a culturally devoid of substance. The 2010s have good cartoons and animated movies but that's about it (at least to me). Happy to see you enjoyed 2016 though, unlike I did.

I have the exact same opinion as you in regards to the 2010s, except i'm personally not even a fan of the cartoons or kids/animated movies that have been popular this decade. It hurts to see shows I liked so much as a kid (e.g Bob The Builder, Bananas in Pyjamas) turned into soulless, CGI reboots.
