A thread to discuss general topics relating to the history of pop culture.
I have a book which I have owned since I was ten years old called “Australia Through Time”. It’s a detailed look at how Australian society had changed between 1859 and 2009 (the year of publication). Anyway, I happened to come across it earlier today as I was sorting through my stuff and I just thought I would share some of the music-related newspaper articles which are in the book: A newspaper clipping from 1970 about Olivia Newton-John moving over to the US to follow a career in acting and singing. A 1964 newspaper article about Beatlemania in Australia. Apologies for the quality of the photo. A 1970 article about Hippies at a pop music festival. A 1995 newspaper clipping of Silverchair.

It was 50 years ago today that The Beatles played their final performance on the rooftop of Apple Corps.

Today would have marked Steve Irwin's 57th birthday. It's hard to believe that he has been gone for almost 13 years. I still remember hearing about his tragic passing on the radio after my Dad had picked me up from school.
Also, just on this topic, two days ago would have been Kurt Cobain's 52nd birthday. It's a shame that they both passed away at such a young age.

It was on this day, 50 years ago, humans first walked on the moon.
