the change from 2008- 2013 was much greater than 2013 to 2018

But yeah I remember technology and music dating 2008 quite badly in the eyes of 2013, as well as fashion to some extent (the late 2000s had a weird obsession with bushy hair, bright colored pants & leggings, cropped vests and 2000s-glossy aethestics all over the place).

I wouldn't be so quick to say that 2008-2013 had more change than 2013-2018. This is because were currently in 2018 and you need to be removed from the era as a whole to distinguish the two years apart, its too hard to tell the changes as their happening. I'd say the only thing that really would set 2013 closer to 2018 is being apart of the smartphone era.

Nah, especially in 2019. By 2014, 2013 already felt forgotten to me, honestly. 2013 was lit, no doubt, but the year just kinda "went" and gone.

I'd say we are closer to 2016 than we are to 2013.

I'd say we are closer to 2016 than we are to 2013. I don't believe you, I'd we are closer to 6 years ago and we are to 3 years ago

2013 is definitely dated IMO, especially in terms of music, politics and even smartphones. I feel like people on inthe00s and Popedia underestimate how dated it is because "bUt tHe dIfFerENcE BeTweEN 2003 AnD 2009 iS BiGgeR!!" That's literally not the point. The point is that there are still differences between 2013 and 2019 and some are huge changes.

Well, with a life-altering pandemic, toxic political climate, social unrest, smartphones in most people's pockets, social media becoming universal, and a recession this year, I would say most certainly not.

2002-2004 = Cannot remember. 2005-2007 = Feels like a very long time ago. 2008-2011 = Feels completely disconnected from the present. 2012-2014 = Doesn't feel recent however not as distant feeling as 2008-2011. 2015-2016 = Yesteryear but starting to feel distant. 2017-2020 = Past few years all feel recent. 2017 feels like it was a few weeks ago.
