Did you play with Lego when you were growing up? If so, what were your favourite things to build?
Is it unusual that I never cared or had an interest in Lego as a kid? It seems like people more often than not play with some Lego when they are kids, but for whatever reason, it just never appealed to me. My Mum had bought me a Lego set when I was 5-6 years old, but I never played with it.

My grandparents had a huge collection that when we stayed with them for extended periods we used to spend hours together building large cities out of them (only to have a natural disaster come along at the wrong time and destroy the lot and having to rebuild again! 😂😛)

I use to do a similar thing, except I used to build stack towers and buildings with dominoes instead of Lego.

Literally the only time I have ever played with Legos was in the dentist waiting room before my appointments as a kid. There was a massive Lego table there and it was fun to pass the time but outside of that I never had an interest in it. The cool thing about Legos though is that while yeah it's mostly a kid thing, adults can have fun with it too - I have an adult friend who creates intricate Lego displays and they turn out really awesome.

It's funny that you should say that, because I got the inspiration for this thread after watching a news report about adult Lego collectors. I do agree though that the fact that adults can have fun with Lego is a positive thing. It's one of the few kids toys which isn't age or gender discriminatory.

Very true (regarding adults and Lego). I’m not sure if anyone else has been to it before, but I went this exhibition in Hobart a couple of years ago called Brickman. It was actually quite awesome seeing all the intricate displays that were made by professionals, namely Ryan McNaught. I wasn’t bad at building things with Lego but his creativity is on a far greater and out of this world level! Some of his works (included is one model of a Qantas A380):
