I'm ashamed to admit it, but "I Think We're Alone Now" has started to become a bit of a guilty pleasure song of mine recently. No, it certainly isn't one of the best songs of 1987 and Tiffany isn't even that great of a singer, however there's just something about it which I like. Plus, I like her as well. This would be the type of song which would give me a huge amount of nostalgia for the '80s if I had of been alive to experience the decade.

I’m surprised to hear that from you considering your general dislike for commercialism in music, and Tiffany might be the epitome of an aggressively promoted artist pushed by labels I think it’s a fine slice of teen pop cheese. I’m just not huge on her vocals or the overblown production. I think I’ll rather listen to the Tommy Page original since her cover doesn’t offer much new positives:

I think it's just because the song has somewhat of an "innocent" charm to it. It isn't in your face or riddled with over-the-top, '80s synths; it's just a nice little pop number about being alone with your partner. Her imperfect vocals adds to the quality of the song, IMO.

I've never been a fan of trap or hip-hop in general, but I actually like this. It's quite heavy and I like how it builds in atmosphere, I wouldn't be disappointed if this was the style of trap music that made it onto the charts.

I see you discovered the niche subgenre of "trap metal" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rap_metal#Trap_metalAs much shit as SoundCloud gets, it is in fact a hotspot for people to experiment and mess around with mainstream conventions.

Yep. Random Star Wars fan was actually the one who introduced me to Scarlxrd, and that's how I became aware of the sub-genre. I decided to give "Heart Attack" a listen about a year ago simply for the hell of it, but it wasn't until just last week that I actually started to explore "trap metal" in greater depth and listen to more tracks. It's kind of ironic for me to say this seeing as how "trap metal" songs tend to sound very similar, but to be honest, none of the other tracks I listened to were to my liking. I listened to songs by Bones, Ghostmaine and a few others by Scarlxrd. Bones was an artist I intentionally decided to check out because he supposedly incorporates grunge and emo elements into his music, however, his songs weren't any good at all. They were on the same par quality-wise as 6ix9ine and XXXTentacion. Unfortunately, most "trap metal" songs (at least from what I gather) tend to stay within the bounds of mumble-rap as a genre. I really wasn't expecting the overall sound to lean towards metal despite the name, but I was at least hoping that the artists would blend the two genres together in an interesting way. I still stand by "Heart Attack" as a song though, lol.

I never liked Evanescence when I was younger, namely because Amy Lee's vocals were too over-the-top for my liking. However, "What You Want" has always been something of a guilty pleasure of mine. My Mum was a fan of their music and when I was 12, she bought their then-new self-titled album off iTunes and quite often played the full album in the car. "What You Want" was actually one of my favourite songs back then. It's a notable change of pace for them; "What You Want" is a very hard-hitting, 'back-to-basics' alt-metal song that doesn't feature Evanescence's characteristic operatic influences and piano notes, and that's the main reason as for why I have always enjoyed it.
