I got the idea for this after listening to "Every You Every Me" last night. All too often we focus on the Seattle scene and alternative-rock from the United States, but the alternative-rock and Britpop scenes from the UK are very rarely discussed. I thought it would be interesting if we had a thread for discussing British alternative music and sharing what our favourite songs are from the music scene.
To start this thread off:
I must admit, I wasn't a fan of "Laid" until very recently. The yodeling was something that was always a real turn off for me. Now I think it's a genuinely good song.
I'm not sure how familiar most of you would be with this song. Apart from the UK and Australia (where it peaked at #11 and #46 respectively back in 1999), the only other country "Every You Every Me" charted in was Germany (though it only peaked at #99 over there).
Again, like "Laid", this is a song that I only started to appreciate within just the past few months. I've actually been familiar with "Every You Every Me" ever since I was a kid; my Mum had it on a burnt CD and she would often play it (along with "Pure Morning") in the car. The main reasons as to why I didn't like it in the past is due to the nasally vocals and goth-themed lyrics. The song has grown on me over time and now I quite enjoy it.

It seems strange throwing Bush into the mix given their Seattle stylistic influences, but I thought I would share one of their songs anyway. "Everything Zen" would have to be one of my personal favourites by Bush.
