I want to talk about the music in 2016 because I think this is an overhated year for music. I remember when 2016 was almost over, I heard people say that this year is the worst for music, I sort of agreed. Now, I'm looking back at the 2016 music charts and I'm shocked on how much good songs I haven't listened to in a long time. There was a lot of EDM songs that I enjoyed so much such as "I Took a Pill in Ibiza", "Don't Let Me Down", and "Faded". I even liked the Trap songs from this year such as "Panda", "Broccoli", and "Black Beatles", which have more energy than most 2018 Trap songs. I know some of you guys will disagree but I see myself really nostalgic for this year and the previous 2010s years.
What do you guys think of music in 2016?

2016 was a pretty strong year for releases, there was late David Bowie's "Blackstar" which a decent amount of people will go as far as rank it among his best material, similar to Radiohead's suprising "A Moon Shaped Pool". R&B especially had a stellar year in 2016 with acclaimed albums like "Blonde", "Lemonade", "Malibu" and "A Seat at the Table".
Otherwise when it comes to the charts 2016 is easily my second least favorite year this decade. I remember thinking back then that a lot of hit singles were really unnormally slow-downed and hideously produced. Songs like "My House", "Dangerous Woman", "PillowTalk", "One Dance" and "Cake by the Ocean" all sounded much better when sped up and it was as if the recording engineers of those songs actually decreased their BPM on purpose during the mixing process. After a while it just got irritating and unpleasant.
It was also the year of the disappointments as Pop artists were putting out great singles like Rihanna's "Kiss It Better" or Ariana's "Into You" only for them to be overshadowed by straight-up mediocrity like "Work" and "Side to Side" in popularity.
What a frustrating year it was!

Do you like the Tropical House which was absolutely big that year? I personally thought it was an fresh and always welcome addition to the charts in 2015 with songs like "Cheerleader" and "What Do You Mean"? But in 2016 I didn't particularly care for it, and it was overshadowed by the bland Dancehall trend and the Chainsmokers' Trap nightmare anyway.

They ruled the whole year.

Another music trend in 2016 was 21 Pilots. They ruled the whole year. Yeah I guess, but I didn't particularly cared for them either. "Ride" is pretty catchy though and one of the year's better singles. They also came back this year and released a pretty strong album, although their popularity seemed to have fizzled out in meantime...
