What songs are you ashamed to say you like and also make you feel worthless? For me at the moment it is this--
New Hollow - She Ain't You

I've always liked this song, even though it's a Limp Bizkit song.

I'm not ashamed to like anything that I just happen to enjoy. There's always a reason, and I have to just acknowledge what angle causes me to appreciate something. I wear my love of S Club 7 and eurobeat music proudly on my sleeve, even if they're as cheesy as this:

I was kind of tempted to post my Spotify Wrapped on some forum but I was so embarrassed by how much it didn't conform to the party line. For the most part, I just let my freak flag fly, but we're dealing here with a forum with kind of a conformist mentality. (Yeah, I could be mentioning it, but I'm just being coy because this forum is actually Googlable unlike inthe00s. )

This. Purely because I have great memories attached to this song.

This. Purely because I have great memories attached to this song. Oh I can sort of relate to this song too, as well as "Walking on Sunshine", although I'm not ashamed of the latter I'm not ashamed to like anything that I just happen to enjoy. Like, say, you got My Humps stuck in your ear. Wtf lmaooo. I never saw the MV before.

But surely there is a song that you rationally know is very derivative, but you end up liking it despite yourself? Like, say, you got My Humps stuck in your ear. That's just an ear worm. I do and always have disliked "My Humps", but I suppose there are a few songs that I find incredibly annoying, yet I do listen to a lot because they're titanically infectious. The biggest examples of this include: www.junodownload.com/products/zippers-hello-bubble-speedo-remix/1872468-02/There's no YouTube link for this, but this cover of the Martin Solveig + Dragonette dance song is bizarrely effective as a eurobeat track. In part due to the vocalist chosen here, it's also super irritating, yet also even more flavourful. Mind you, I do still get enjoyment listening to these tracks, unlike your typical P.O.S. by Kodak Black, 6ix9ine, or any other trash rapper who’s popular simply because of how big a douchebag they are and not because there’s any depth or meaning to their music other than macho posturing. I won’t call the examples I listed good on an overall quality level, but I ultimately do commend them for their expertly crafted production and hooks that pump them up with the right balance between annoyance and catchiness that I’ll happily blast them if I’m in the right mood.

I generally choose not to share my musical interests with my friends and family, so I could technically list almost every song that i'm into as examples of this topic. Music is a very deep and personal thing for me and I feel like i'm jeoparding it by publicly sharing my music tastes with those around me. However, in saying that, there are songs which I would never confess to liking, even if I did feel more comfortable with listening to my favourite songs while with company: I'm very open about my dislike of Emo music, so there's no way that I would ever admit to liking "Welcome to the Black Parade". I've bagged my friends for years for liking bands such as Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco!. I blame nostalgia for this. I hated this song back in 2006. This is another one which I only started to appreciate within the past 12-18 months. I was never a fan of this back in 2009, because I thought it was one of those typical teenage, pop-punk songs you'd hear in a Disney Channel movie. Even though I believe that it's a genuinely good song now, i'm not sure if I would ever confess to my friends about my interest in the song, because they would likely be under the same mindset as I had almost ten years ago. I honestly can't say that I have ever liked any other Demi Lovato song, although I do like the electro-rock sound of this song. "Cool For The Summer" has been a guilty pleasure of mine since it was released. There's definitely other songs I like which are good examples of this topic, but i'll talk about them at another time. That is quite shameful indeed. It's not as shameful as admitting to liking and recently singing a Simple Plan song in the car.

I knew it. Like me, you really do like this song but just won’t admit it. It all makes sense now! I can easily see SharksFan99 “bopping” to this. Am-I-right-or-am-I-right!

The biggest that comes to mind:
I'm usually not a big fan of Boy Band music, as the songs usually feature very sneary vocals that ruin them for me. But on this one I don't mind them, I dunno exactly why. Reminds me of summer teen movies I used to watch a decent amount of when I was younger.

I've always liked this song, even though it's a Limp Bizkit song. The hatred for this song is primarily contextual. It’s a cover of The Who, whose original song is a classic rock staple. Bizkit’s cover came out after Fred Durst had more than infamously established himself as an attention-seeking narcissist, so it came across as a vainly desperate plea for sympathy, made all the worse by the fact that it was relying on a legendary band’s work. Personally, I think “Eat You Alive” is a million times more cringe-worthy, but I certainly underatand why rock purists hated the “Behind Blue Eyes” cover so venomously.
