The clock has just struck past midnight here on the east coast of Australia, meaning that there are now less than 24 hours until the start of 2019. What was the year 2018 like for you personally?
This year has had it's fair share of ups and downs. It took me more than 5 months to do so, but I got my first job in April of this year...as a school crossing supervisor. It's definitely not something I ever pictured myself doing, but at least it was a foot in the door and it has opened up more opportunities for me next year. It's hard trying to enter the workforce as a school leaver, so i'm just appreciative that I was successful in getting a role (even if it's not full-time). Another highlight for me this year was going on my annual two-week holiday down to Tasmania back in January. We stayed in Devonport for the full two weeks and although we've pretty much seen and done everything on the North-West coast of Tasmania, it was nice just to stay in the one spot for a change and to have a holiday where we didn't have to pack our stuff every few days. It was great to spend more time with my Uncle as well (which is the reason why we go down to Tasmania each year). The lowest point for me this year was undoubtedly when I found out the news that my Dad had been arrested. It was shattering. I won't go into detail over what he was arrested for (don't worry, he didn't murder anybody) or the length of his sentence, but what I will say is that it was something that none of us had expected. It was a complete surprise to us all. I still very much have mixed feelings over the whole ordeal. I have a lot of resentment towards my Dad over what he has done, but on the same token, it's upsetting for me to see my Dad in jail, even after four months. It's like a nightmare that won't end. Another negative point from this year was having to deal with my job agency, since I was on Centrelink's "Youth Allowance" scheme. I had so many hassles with them this year. They're not helpful in the slightest, especially to people like myself who have only recently graduated high school and are still new to the workforce. I'm going to go off Youth Allowance in the next few days, so I thankfully won't have to deal with them anymore! Anyhow, that's what 2018 was like for me personally. It wasn't an overly eventful year overall, but the events that did happen were pretty significant and had a lot of effects on me (both positive and negative). Congratulations on the job! Not so much with the family drama.

Miserable, lol.
Honestly every year that passes, is just a reminder that I haven't done anything with my life, and I've not accomplished a single one of my goals. But it's also a reminder that I've at the very least, made it this far despite certain circumstances. So I guess even though things aren't too good, they aren't too bad either.

I can relate, I often feel the exact same way towards the end of the year. Oh well, there's still plenty of time to achieve the goals that we want.

I think part of the stress that comes with passing time, is this societal pressure to achieve things before a certain age. It's so toxic lol. It really ruins one's mentality, specially when seeing younger people achieving things you've either never done, or things you've always wanted to do. But the reality is, that it shouldn't be a competition, and we should all take our time, and do things the way we feel comfortable. But I guess once that concept has been drilled into your brain since childhood, it's kinda hard to shake off

It was a mixed bag. A few things I'm glad are that I finally got a full-time job and made some friends there as well as getting to know you all much more by having those live streams. Plus, I finally got a PS4 after years of missing out or only playing it on my cousin and friends room. The bad points are that I lost one of my dogs and that after moving, I didn't get a new house right away which is why I haven't had time to be an active contributor.

Lots of soul searching that year. The second half of it was great though.
