I got the idea for this thread after going for a drive earlier today. What do you think of the car licence plates in your state/country? Do you like them or do you wish that they were updated?
I've got to be honest, I hate the look of the New South Wales licence plates. The yellow & black combinations in particular look awful IMO and unfortunately for me, that is the licence plate design that is on my car. I've thought about upgrading to a personalised licence plate in the past, but the thought of having to pay over $100 a year to keep them is a real turn off. The black & white combination doesn't look too bad, although even it is a bit too bland for my liking. In case you're wondering, here is what the New South Wales licence plate combinations look like (the images are sourced from Wikipedia): My personal favourite licence plate designs are the Victorian and Tasmanian ones.

I've always liked the bright yellow of the NSW plates ahaha. I do enjoy the Vic Plates too, which are listed as follows -/- Garden State (1978-94, can be seen relatively often) On The Move (1994-00, still quite common) The Place To Be (2000-13, everywhere) Stay Alert Stay Alive (2013-15) The Education State (2015-Incumbent, my least fav tagline, makes us sound like were superior!)

The Education State (2015-Incumbent, my least fav tagline, makes us sound like were superior!) At least it's not as bad as this... Queenslanders are implying that they are smarter than everyone else.

I really like the slimline plates in white (could only find black ones for some reason on google?!) I also like the 'on the move' and 'the place to be plates'. I really dislike the new education state ones. Do the govt. realise our lives don't revolve around education!! On the other hand in NSW however, I really like the white plates, but hate the yellow ones. Hopefully, people are smart when they buy an expensive car and don't use the yellow plates, it drags the whole look of the car down!

I agree, they generally look good. Florida's designs make Australia's licence plate designs look very bland in comparison.

I think we have the most visually interesting plates out of each state/territory these days. Some of the older ones where hideously plain, but I quite like the current ones which have been around for quite a few years now. Yep. The Tasmanian licence plates look so much better than the hideous NSW ones. I suppose that's another thing I can look forward to if/when I hopefully move down to Tasmania one day, lol. At least my car would finally have a decent looking licence plate.

Just the fact that they have to state they are smart on a freaking license plate makes them sound 100x dumber LOL!

If you knew the likes of politicians that came from up there over the decades you instantly know they were lying. What are NZ plates like?
