It probably won't ever happen, but New South Wales really should add the waratah (because if the state flower is good enough for it to be the government logo...) or something to our standard numberplates.

I've always liked the bright yellow of the NSW plates ahaha. I do enjoy the Vic Plates too, which are listed as follows -/- Garden State (1978-94, can be seen relatively often) On The Move (1994-00, still quite common) The Place To Be (2000-13, everywhere) Stay Alert Stay Alive (2013-15) The Education State (2015-Incumbent, my least fav tagline, makes us sound like were superior!) They also had one which just said 'Victoria' which would have been about 2000 between 'On The Move' and 'The Place To Be'. It's usually on plates starting with Q, perhaps it was just temporary. You don't see them too often anymore because of the age.

This is something that I thought of earlier, but has anyone else ever noticed the fact that most ACT licence-plates start with the letter "Y"? You very rarely see any that start with another letter. I wonder why that is.

Speaking of ACT numberplates, is it just me or do you see more cars on the road with them than you used to? Because while I've seen a few cars driving around Sydney with ACT numberplates in recent times, I don't really remember there being any from the distant past.
Of course, Victoria and Queensland are the most common interstate numberplates seen on NSW roads (at least from my observations). Occasionally I've seen one or two from Tasmania and even WA, but can't really remember seeing any from NT or SA.

I've noticed that actually when I have traveled through the Southern Highlands and Macarthur regions in recent times. You definitely see more ACT licence-plates in those areas than you ever did in the past. However, I can't say that I have noticed an increase here in the Illawarra. Maybe more people from the ACT are choosing to go on longer day trips out of the area? Someone living in the ACT and commuting to Sydney for work would simply be unfeasible, so I'd say that the increase of ACT drivers in the area can probably be contributed to the former. Yep. I've personally seen a couple of SA licence-plates in the past as well, however i'm not sure if I've ever spotted a Northern Territory one.
