Welcome to the 2019 AFL Tipping Competition! This years competition will also include the AFLX pre-season tournament; more information on that can be found below. The rules for the 2018 AFL Tipping Competition are as follows: * Two points will be awarded for victories that are correctly tipped. For instance, if you tipped the Crows to win in a Power vs Crows match, you will be awarded two points for tipping the winning team. * The same rule applies for a draw, however you will only be awarded one point for correctly tipping the draw. I know that draws are not common in Aussie Rules, but you never know! * Please send in your tips before the start of each round. Experienced tippers who have not tipped before each round, will be awarded a point for each away team victory. For instance, if you did not tip before Round 20 and the Pies won away from home, you will be awarded a point (depending on if you were apart of the competition for previous rounds). * Four points will be awarded for correctly tipping the winner of the AFLX Grand Final. Unfortunately, due to a lack of information online, the matches which proceed the GF will not be included as part of the tipping competition. * Also, please feel free to join the 2019 AFL Tipping Competition at any time! I hope you enjoy this year’s tipping competition and I wish you the best of luck. Qwerty AussieTV I'm not sure if you two are interested in the AFL or not, but knowing that you both live in Melbourne, I thought it would be worth asking anyway just in case you were both interested in taking part.

I'll join I think that the AFLX draft is this week, so i'll see the teams from that then make my tip which will probably just be teams with players I like! They did a good job in making a tacky concept sound even tackier

They did a good job in making a tacky concept sound even tackier I agree. It seems like the AFL are trying to follow in the footsteps of the BBL by creating new, broad-based franchises and having them play in a knockout competition. I very much doubt that it's going to attract new fans to the game.

I'll tip the Flyers for AFLX. Looks as though they have the best team on paper.

They did a good job in making a tacky concept sound even tackier I wouldn’t worry, I doubt the “revamped” concept will gain any extra attention amongst the fans and they will be forced to go back to the drawing board once again. The majority of people can see how tacky it looks and won’t waste their time watching it. I will be tipping the Bolts as they have a pretty good lineup across each line.

There's just over one week until the 2019 AFL Tipping competition starts. If you haven't already submitted your tip for the winner of the AFLX Grand Final, please don't forget to do so.

This is just a bit of a reminder for people to submit their tips for the AFLX Grand Final if they haven't already. The competition starts on Friday, so there isn't much time left.

So, what a fluke SharksFan99. I saw a few of the highlights earlier (I didn’t watch it last night) and it seems the umpires won it for the Rampage. Some very questionable decisions late in the game. I noticed the Bolts were also unlucky in the final knockout against the Flyers too. They should’ve won that.

All the teams looked the same to me on paper, so it was really just a complete stab in the dark! If that's the case, it's a shame that the Rampage didn't win the game on their own merit. Flyers fans (that's if there are any when the AFLX isn't on ) wouldn't be happy.

It was really a toss of the coin with the other teams though. They really didn’t but I doubt anyone really cares as it’s a non-event to the majority. The league really need to reboot the Origin series next year. No-one is really interested in this silly gimmick format and who knows who they are trying to sell this format to. I mean they completely copied the Big Bash cricket with their flashing bails with coloured flashing goalposts again. Ffs it’s so cringe!

With names like Rampage, Deadly etc., the AFL are probably trying to sell the format to kids, but they're going about it the wrong way. An Origin series would likely be just as successful (if not more) and it would be likely to appeal more to general fans of the AFL.
