I got the idea for this thread thanks to the "Childhood crush" topic that was created. Were there any characters on TV shows in which you felt as though you could relate with in some way? For instance, did you and the character share similar interests, a similar family background, go through similar events/issues etc. ?
As silly as this sounds, one character which I felt as though I could relate with is Lisa Simpson off The Simpsons. Even though my family background is obviously nothing like her own (especially with being an only child), I could strongly relate with her passion for music and learning about history, as well as her general feeling of being misunderstood by everyone around her.

Like you, Shark, Lisa Simpson because we are both vegetarian (vegan in my case), jazz loving intellectuals. Also Gretchen Grundler from 'Recess' for the intellectual reason. And we both wear glasses.

There's a meme I see around that says the older you get the more relatable you find him, and it's so true. Dude just wants to be left be! He works a shitty job below his intellect level and needs a break!

It was undeniably targeted towards kids first and foremost, but it had certain qualities and an underlying style of humour which made it appeal to teens/adults as well.

I can relate to Casey from Pokemon, especially when I was 4-6. She likes baseball like I do, and her favorite color is yellow (just like me!). In one episode she said she wouldn't give up, which inspired me to never give up either.

View AttachmentI see, not too many people bring her name up since she only appeared in the anime on a few occasions during the Johto-arc. May was my favorite female character overall in the Pokemon series. Since she came into the series right around the time I was starting to really play Pokemon and she showed her much you can get better at something if you keep practicing. I know you said you didn't like the reigions after Johto but man watching May beginning to end was pretty sweet since she started off not having a clue about Pokemon to being a top contest battler and having a freaking Blazekin! I didn't get a chance to watch the indigo-leauge while it was airing since I was only a baby then but i still got to see the original trio by the time I started watching in late 2001.
