I remember in the late 1990s/early 2000s we had pizza days and burger days at school every week. In the mid-2000s there was a push for healthy options, so I stopped eating school meals and ate from outside instead. The exception was the breakfast programme my high school had, now that food was good (agreeable food like cereal and apples rather than tasteless/gross stuff). Also I'm surprised Americans here haven't tried custard

However, I remember we were able to cook our own pizzas in the morning in some my primary school years and then we were able to eat them for lunch later in the day. I’m not sure how anyone has not at least tried custard once before in their lifetime! You don’t know what you are missing out on. 😛

There are still a few Pizza Hut and Sizzler dine-ins about. I went to one of the Sizzler and Pizza Hut stores up on the Gold Coast when I was up there a couple of years ago. I did find one in Ballarat when I was there way back in 2008, but that could have very well closed down by now I guess! In saying this though, they are a very rare sight these days compared to when both Sizzler and Pizza Hut were a really big deal back during the 90s. I remember spending quite a few of my birthday parties/dinners at either one of them (same with my brothers)! Their pasta and soft serve ice cream in particular was to die for. Yeah, that's true. The closest Sizzler dine-in for me would be the one near Campbelltown, but it is almost an hour away from where I live. I actually haven't come across any Pizza Hut dine-ins since the one in my local area closed down over fifteen years ago, to be honest. It's interesting to hear that there are still a few Pizza Hut dine-ins on the Gold Coast.

It's an absolute crime that no one else here has tried a bowl of custard before, lol. I should’ve mentioned that you need something with it, such as a pudding. It can become a bit much just a bowl of it by itself! Have you or anyone tried vanilla custard before? There are still a few Pizza Hut and Sizzler dine-ins about. We have no Sizzler down here anymore since they closed the one and only close to 20 years ago now (I can’t believe it would be that long ago now! ). Similar story with my local dine-in Pizza Hut too. The one near were my family used to live used to have long queues lining out the front door every time we went there it wasn’t funny. It was a real shame the person who owned that closed it down when they did. Oh well.

There is nothing distinct about food from the 2000s because food is just food.

I wouldn't know about that, John, because I don't take any notice of the packaging and I don't know what the FDA is, especially if it is American because I do not live in America. I do check ingredients thoroughly though, being vegan.

Food changes taste due to ingredients changing For example Red bull in the early 2000s had ephedra in it and was banned in the mid 2000s and it made it taste different.

Our schools had pizza on the menu everyday, but it was usually kind of stale by the time you got it. Sometimes classes would have special pizza parties if they earned it somehow, where you would order it special just for the 25 or so of you. My favorite parties were the fêtes/fiestas in language class. Piñatas and fresh crepes ftw.

In Grade 3 I won a pizza party for my class after I got second place at a regional spelling bee. Problem was, I'm one of the 10 people in the world who hate pizza, but I was too embarrassed to admit it. As soon as I bit into the pizza, tears involuntarily came out of my eyes. I took about 30 minutes to eat half of it and threw it in the trash when I thought no one was looking.

Being that you live in a state that invest heavily on education I wouldn't be surprised that you had tons on parties.

Idk about NH and Maine.
